My Beautiful Laundrette (play)
''My Beautiful Laundrette'' is a play by Hanif Kureishi based on the 1985 film of the same name with a screenplay also by Kureishi. Production history The play premiered at the Curve in Leicester from 20 September to 5 October 2019 before touring to Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham (8 to 12 October), Leeds Playhouse (15 to 26 October), Belgrade Theatre, Coventry (29 October to 2 November) and Birmingham Repertory Theatre (5 to 9 November). The play was directed by Nikolai Foster and featured original music by Tennant/ Lowe from Pet Shop Boys. Hanif Kureishi
Hanif Kureishi (born 5 December 1954) is a British playwright, screenwriter, filmmaker and novelist of South Asian and English descent. In 2008, ''The Times'' included Kureishi in its list of the 50 greatest British writers since 1945. Early life Kureishi was born in Bromley, South London to a Pakistani father, Rafiushan (Shanoo) Kureishi, and an English mother, Audrey Buss.Emily Ballou"Whims of the father" ''The Australia'', 15 November 2008. Jonny Fines
Jonny Fines (born 16 September 1987) is an English actor, singer and dancer, best known for his work in Television and Musical Theatre. Fines grew up in the town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. He graduated from the Guildford School of Acting in 2010 and has subsequently appeared in a wide variety of roles in theatre and television. Christopher Sean Lowe (born 4 October 1959) is an English musician, singer and songwriter, and co-founder of the synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, which he formed with Neil Tennant in 1981. Biography Lowe attended Arnold School, an independent school in his home town Blackpool, Lancashire. Whilst at school, he played trombone in a seven-piece dance band called One Under the Eight that played old-time favourites like " Hello Dolly", " La Bamba" and " Moon River". Lowe's grandfather had been a trombonist and was a member of comedy jazz troupe The Nitwits. Lowe also learned to play the piano. Lowe studied architecture at the University of Liverpool from 1978 but, as he stated on television appearances and in the ''Life in Pop'' documentary, never graduated, due to the formation of Pet Shop Boys. Neil Francis Tennant (born 10 July 1954) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and music journalist, and co-founder of the synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, which he formed with Chris Lowe in 1981.
