Muğla Province ( tr, , ) is a province of Turkey, at the country's south-western corner, on the Aegean Sea. Its seat is Muğla, about inland, while some of Turkey's largest holiday resorts, such as Bodrum, Ölüdeniz, Marmaris and Fethiye, are on the coast in Muğla. Etymology The original name of Muğla is open to debate. Various sources refer to the city as Mogola, Mobella or Mobolia. Geography At , Muğla's coastline is the longest among the Provinces of Turkey and longer than many countries' coastlines, (even without taking any small islands into account). Bodrum () is a port city in Muğla Province, southwestern Turkey, at the entrance to the Gulf of Gökova. Its population was 35,795 at the 2012 census, with a total of 136,317 inhabitants residing within the district's borders. Known in ancient times as Halicarnassus, the city was once home to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, also known as the tomb of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Marmaris () is a port city and tourist resort on the Mediterranean coast, located in Muğla Province, southwest Turkey, along the shoreline of the Turkish Riviera. Although Marmaris is known for its honey, its main source of income is international tourism. It is located between two intersecting sets of mountains by the sea, though following a construction boom in the 1980s, little is left of the sleepy fishing village that Marmaris was until the late 20th century. In 2010, the city's resident population was 30,957, although it peaks at around 300,000 to 400,000 people during the tourist season. As an adjunct to the tourism industry, Marmaris is also a centre for sailing and diving, possessing two major and several smaller marinas. Tavas
Tavas is a town and a district of Denizli Province of Turkey, on a wide plain on the road to Muğla, near to the district of Kale (and often the two are linked in one breath ''Kale-Tavas''). Menderes, İzmir
Menderes is a district of İzmir Province in Turkey. Overview Menderes district, which is notable for its satsumas, beautiful bays and historical riches, is from İzmir. The antique city of Lebedos is situated in the western corner of the district in Ürkmez locality. Ruins of Kolophon, Klaros, Notion and Lebedos, which are along the Menderes- Selçuk road are next to each other and make up the important archeological sites of the province.
