Muzhestva Square
Ploschad Muzhestva (russian: Пло́щадь Му́жества ploɕːɪtʲ ˈmuʐɪstvə ) is an open public square, shaped as a roundabout, in the north-east of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Its name and decoration commemorate the fortitude city dwellers demonstrated during the nearly 900-day-long 1941–44 Nazi Germany Siege of Leningrad as the square opens the way to the biggest burial place of the siege victims Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery. The underground station of the same name opened next to the square on 31 December 1975. The square joins five streets, two of which form northeastern roughly latitudinal part of the city's Central Arc Thoroughfare that as a whole connects much of the city's uptown residential areas with southwestern and northwestern suburban motorways. Ozerki (Historic District In Saint Petersburg)
Ozerki (russian: Озерки́ - "small lakes") is a historic district in the northern part of Saint Petersburg. It has been included in the city in 1963. The district got its name from the Suzdal lakes which are located within its territory borders. The district is currently a part of Shuvalovo-Ozerki municipal okrug within Vyborgsky District. It is served by Ozerki metro station operating since 19 August 1988. Oktyabrskay Railway station Ozerki is also located within the district. Maurice Thorez
Maurice Thorez (; 28 April 1900 – 11 July 1964) was a French politician and longtime leader of the French Communist Party (PCF) from 1930 until his death. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister of France from 1946 to 1947. Pre-War Thorez, born in Noyelles-Godault, Pas-de-Calais, became a coal miner at the age of 12. He joined the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO) in 1919 and was imprisoned several times for his political activism. After the 1920 split in the SFIO led to the formation of the French Communist Party (PCF) in December 1920, Thorez became party secretary in 1923 and, in 1930, general secretary of the party, a position he held until his death. After he took office as secretary general, he was supported by Soviet leader Joseph Stalin and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Prospekt Nepokoryonnykh (russian: Проспект Непокорённых, Russian for Avenue of the Unconquered) is a street in the northeast of Saint Petersburg, Russia, in Kalininsky District of the city. It has significance as it forms a part of the city's Central Arc Thoroughfare (Rus. Центральная дуговая магистраль) and connects Muzhestva Square (Square of Fortitude) with crosswise to it going downtown Piskaryovskiy Prospekt (Piskaryovka Avenue) and passes by Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery, the last resting place for hundreds of thousands mostly civilian victims of the 1941–44 World War II siege of the city by Nazi Germany. The Saint Petersburg Ring Road (russian: Кольцевая автомобильная дорога вокруг Санкт-Петербурга) is a 142 km (88 mile) orbital freeway encircling Saint Petersburg, Russia. The city's only beltway, it is listed in the Russian road numbering system as federal public highway A-118. Construction The need for the construction of a beltway around St Petersburg was first stated in the 1965 General Development Plan of Leningrad. The western segment of the road was planned to be constructed as a causeway forming part of a proposed flood-protection dam in the Gulf of Finland.
