Muungano Development Movement Party Of Kenya
The Muungano Party (MP) is a political party in Kenya. History The Muungano Party was established in 2007, and nominated a single National Assembly candidate for the 2007 general elections, Tito Mutunga Muunda in Makueni. He received 517 votes, finishing twelfth in a field of nineteen candidates. In the 2013 elections the party nominated 16 candidates for the National Assembly. It received 0.9% of the vote, winning a single seat, Francis Mwangangi Kilonzo in Yatta. It also won the gubernatorial election in Makueni County, with former MP Kivutha Kibwana elected as the county's Governor. Kibwana left to join Wiper in February 2017. The party nominated twelve National Assembly candidates for the 2017 general elections, although Kilonzo had left the party and ran as a Chama Cha Uzalendo candidate. National Assembly (Kenya)
The National Assembly of the Republic of Kenya is one of the two Houses of the Parliament of Kenya. Between 1966 and 2013, it served as a unicameral house. In 2013 ( 11th Parliament), it became the lower house when the Senate was reestablished. General elections were held in Kenya on 27 December 2007. Voters elected the President, and members of the National Assembly. They coincided with the 2007 Kenyan local elections. Incumbent Mwai Kibaki, running on a Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket, defeated Raila Odinga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Kalonzo Musyoka of Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya. The elections were strongly marked by ethnic hostility, with Kibaki a member of the traditionally dominant Kikuyu ethnic group, gaining much support amongst the Kikuyu and neighbouring groups in central Kenya, including the Embu and Meru. Kivutha Kibwana
Kivutha Kibwana (born June 13, 1954) is a Kenyan politician and human rights activist. He was Minister for Defence, Minister for Environment and a former member of parliament for the Makueni Constituency. He is also a former advisor to President Mwai Kibaki. Prof. Kibwana's second term as the first Governor of Makueni County ended in 2022. Early life and education Kibwana was born in 1954 in Mwanyani, a remote part located in Nzaui District, Makueni County. He studied at Nduundune Primary School. He later attended Machakos School (1969-1973) for his O’ and A’ Levels. He obtained a bachelor's degree in law (Upper Second Class Honours) from the University of Nairobi in 1976 and a Masters of Law. He also went to University of London and George Washington University. The Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya (WDM-K), formally Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya (ODM–Kenya), is a political party in Kenya, which originated as a result of the 2005 Kenyan constitutional referendum. General elections were held in Kenya on 8 August 2017 to elect the President, members of the National Assembly and Senate. They coincided with the 2017 Kenyan local elections which elected Governors and representatives in the devolved governments. The published results showed that incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Jubilee Party had been re-elected with 54% of the vote. However, his main opponent, Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Movement, refused to accept the results and contested them in the Supreme Court. The results of the presidential election were subsequently annulled by the court and fresh presidential elections was ordered to be held within 60 days.
