Mustang! (film)
''Mustang!'' is a 1959 American Western film directed by Tom Gries and starring Jack Buetel The film was made in 1955, when Champ Butler recorded the film's theme tune. Plot In the hills and forest surrounding a horse-breeding ranch, an unbroken wild mustang has been a constant challenge to the ranch owner. To keep the animal from getting killed for being untamed, the ranch owner's son and daughter decide to try and see if they can get and win the trust of the mustang together. Tom Gries
Tom Gries (December 20, 1922 – January 3, 1977) was an American TV and film director, writer, and film producer. Life and career Gries was born in Chicago, Illinois. His mother, Ruth, later remarried to jazz musician Muggsy Spanier, who became stepfather to Ruth's sons. Educated at the Loyola Academy and Georgetown University. Gries began working in TV in the 1950s as a writer and director. His work can be seen on such popular programs as ''Bronco'', '' Wanted: Dead or Alive'', '' The Westerner'', ''The Rifleman'', ''Checkmate,'' ''Cain's Hundred,'' ''East Side/West Side'', ''Route 66'', '' Stoney Burke,'' ''Combat!,'' ''The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'', ''Honey West'', ''I Spy'', '' Mission: Impossible'', and ''Batman'' among many others. Jack Buetel
Jack Buetel (September 5, 1915 – June 27, 1989) was an American film and television actor. Life Born John Alexander Beutel in Dallas, Texas, he moved to Los Angeles, California in the late 1930s with the intention of establishing a film career, changing his name to read Buetel. Unable to find such work, he was employed as an insurance clerk when he was noticed by an agent who was impressed by his looks. Introduced to Howard Hughes, who was about to begin filming ''The Outlaw'', Buetel was signed to play the lead role as Billy the Kid, with the previously signed David Bacon being dropped from the film. Hughes also signed another newcomer, Jane Russell, for the female lead, and realizing the inexperience of his two stars, also signed veteran actors Thomas Mitchell and Walter Huston. Buetel was signed to a standard seven-year contract at $150 per week and was assured by Hughes that he would become a major star. Raoul Kraushaar (August 20, 1908, Paris, France – October 13, 2001, Pompano Beach, Florida) was an American composer who worked on Hollywood feature films in the 1940s and 1950s. He continued working on low-budget films through the 1960s and 1970s. After that, and up through the 1980s, most of his work centered on television until his retirement; his works included musical compositions for a number of television series, such as ''The Abbott and Costello Show'', ''Lassie'' and ''The Thin Man''. He was survived by three children from his first marriage (a son and two daughters) and one from his second; he had nine grandchildren. Champ Clark Butler (December 21, 1926 – March 8, 1992) was an American popular music singer who had several ''Billboard'' singles chart hits in the 1950s, and recorded primarily for Columbia Records.Original data: Social Security Applications and Claims, 1936-2007. The label's head of A & R, Mitch Miller, writing about Butler's singing in 1953, described him as "one of the most versatile lads in the business."
