Musica (company)
Musica was a record label created in 1945 in order to publish German Telefunken records in Sweden and Norway, since the Telefunken label could not be used after World War II. The two countries had different catalog number blocks so the same number would not appear with different record content, and there were also some blocks set aside for Denmark and Finland. Both Norway and Sweden had local agents representing the German electronics company AEG-Telefunken before the war. Telefunken records were sold by Svensk AB Trådlös Telegrafi (SATT) in Sweden, and by Norsk Telefunken Radioaktieselskap (NTR) in Norway. After the war they were both unable to use the Telefunken label, and Telefunken were not able to produce any new records for a while. A record label, or record company, is a brand or trademark of music recordings and music videos, or the company that owns it. Sometimes, a record label is also a publishing company that manages such brands and trademarks, coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos, while also conducting talent scouting and development of new artists, and maintaining contracts with recording artists and their managers. Stig Anderson
Stig Erik Leopold Anderson (25 January 1931 – 12 September 1997), better known as Stikkan Anderson, was a Swedish music manager, lyricist and music publisher. He was the co-founder of Polar Music, and is best known for managing the Swedish pop band ABBA. Early life Stig Anderson was born on 25 January 1931 in Hova, Sweden, the son of a single mother named Ester. Anderson began his career as a chemistry and mathematics teacher at a primary school, by taking night classes after leaving school at the age of 15. Having written his first song at age 16, Anderson soon entered the Swedish popular music scene, becoming a music producer, manager and occasional performer. Arne Bendiksen
Arne Joachim Bendiksen (19 October 1926 – 26 March 2009) was a Norwegian singer, composer and producer, described as "the father of pop music" in Norway. Career Bendiksen was born in Bergen, Norway. In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, he was a major figure in Norwegian popular music. First, as a member of the group The Monn Keys, later as soloist and composer for other artists. Besides writing his own songs, he also translated many foreign hits into Norwegian, making them Norwegian hits. Egil Monn-Iversen
Egil Ragnar Monn-Iversen (14 April 1928 – 7 July 2017) was a Norwegian musician, one of the most influential modern composers in Norway. He has had many important roles in Norwegian music, film, opera, television, comedy and theater. For some time he had so much influence in Norwegian culture that he got the nickname ''The Godfather'', even though he always considered himself a down-to-earth musician. Reidar Bøe
Reidar Bøe (7 May 1921 – 9 August 1969) was a Norwegian singer and composer. He was born in Bergen, and is known for his collaboration with Kurt Foss. He made his stage debut at Den nationale scene in 1939, and also participated in radio shows. Bøe and Foss made their record debut in 1947 with the song "Grønlandsvisa". Kurt Foss
Kurt Foss (1 January 1925 – 17 October 1991) was a Norwegian composer, singer and vaudeville artist. Biography He was born in Bergen, and together with Reidar Bøe Kurt Foss created the hugely popular duo "Radiofantomene" ("The Radio Phantoms") that was active throughout the 1940s, 50s and 60s. Their biggest success was the song " Blåveispiken" ("The Liverwort Girl") with lyrics by Arne Paasche Aasen and which was released in 1950 selling 100,000 records. Nora Brockstedt (20 January 1923 – 5 November 2015) was a Norwegian singer. In her last years, she focused more on the jazz genre, with successful albums like ''As Time Goes By'' (JazzAvdelingen, 2004) and ''Christmas Songs'' (JazzAvdelingen, 2005). She sang jazz in the 1960s, but was more known for her 'conventional' pop songs. Jens Peter Book-Jenssen (14 November 1910 – 28 March 1999) was a Norwegian singer of popular music, songwriter, revue artist and theatre director. From his stage debut in the early 1930s, his career included radio and television work, recordings, and extensive touring. His career spanned more than sixty years, and he was the top selling record artist in Norway in the 20th century. Personal life Book-Jenssen was born in Bærum as the son of gardener Olaf Jenssen (1874–1949) and Pauline Book (1883–1962), who were born in Hamar and Stockholm respectively. Bengt-Arne Wallin (13 July 1926 in Linköping – 23 November 2015) was a Swedish jazz composer, arranger, trumpeter, and flugelhorn player who played jazz influenced by Swedish traditional folk music. He also wrote film scores. Biography Between 1953 and 1965, he worked in the ensembles of Arne Domnérus and Lars Gullin, as well as the ''Radiobandet'' with Harry Arnold. Jan Victor Armas Lindblad (19 July 1932 – 5 April 1987) was a Swedish naturalist, writer, photographer, film maker, and whistling artist who imitated animals. Lindblad was born in Örebro, Sweden in 1932. He made his debut in the early 1950s, performing in various revues, as a juggler and whistling artist. The latter talent made him one of the 1970s best-selling record artist in his native Sweden. One of his biggest hits was his whistling interpretation of the American folk song "Oh Shenandoah", recorded in 1977.
