Mus (card Game)
Mus is a card game widely played in Spain, France and Hispanic America. Originated in the Basque Country, it is a vying game. The first reference to this game goes back to 1745, when Manuel Larramendi, philologist and Jesuit Basque, quoted it the trilingual dictionary (Basque-Spanish-Latin). In Spain it is the most played card game, spawning several Mus clubs or "''peñas''" and becoming a staple game among college students. It is not uncommon to hear the Basque terms, such as "''órdago''" (from Basque "''hor dago''", "there it is") used by Spanish speakers, often without them being aware of the literal meanings of the terms and phrases. The origin of the word Mus is uncertain. It could come from the Basque language, where "''musu''" means "''kiss''", the established signal of the better possible card combination (3 Kings and one Ace). Larramendi wrote about the word mus or "musu" meaning lips or face and suggests that the name of the game could have derived from the facial g ...

Muş
Muş (; hy, Մուշ; ku, Mûş) is a city and the provincial capital of Muş Province in Turkey. Its population is mostly Kurds. Etymology Various explanations of the origin of Muş's name exist. Its name is sometimes associated with the Armenian word ''mshush'' ( hy, մշուշ), meaning fog, explained by the fact that the town and the surrounding plain are frequently covered in fog in the mornings. The 17th-century explorer Evliya Çelebi relates a myth where a giant mouse created by Nemrud (Nimrod) destroys the city and its inhabitants, after which the city was named Muş (''muš'' means "mouse" in Persian).. Others have proposed a connection with the names of different ancient Anatolian peoples, the Mushki or the Mysians, or the toponyms ''Mushki'' and ''Mushuni'' mentioned in Assyrian and Hittite sources, respectively. History Ancient and medieval The date of foundation of Mush is unknown, although a settlement is believed to have been around by the time of Menua, ...

Publius Decius Mus
The gens Decia was a plebeian family of high antiquity, which became illustrious in Roman history by the example of its members sacrificing themselves for the preservation of their country. The first of the family known to history was Marcus Decius, chosen as a representative of the plebeians during the secession of 495 BC.''Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology'', vol. I, pp. 946, 947 ("Decia Gens"). Origin ''Decius'' is the Latin form of the Oscan praenomen ''Dekis'', or its ''gentile'' equivalent, ''Dekiis''. The praenomen itself is the Oscan equivalent of the Latin name Decimus, and thus the nomen ''Decius'' is cognate with the Latin '' Decimius''. From this it may be supposed that the Decii were of Oscan extraction, perhaps arising from the Sabine portion of Rome's original inhabitants. In any event, they were already at Rome in the earliest years of the Republic, as one of them was chosen to represent the plebeians during the first secession in 495 BC. P ...
