Murray United FC is an Australian soccer club encapsulating NSW's Southern Riverina and North East Victoria. The club is based in Albury/Wodonga and competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 3 competition. The club plays its home matches at La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga campus located in Wodonga. History In early 2014, it was announced that an application had been submitted to Football Federation Victoria for a side under the name Border FC. The club was officially launched on 27 May 2014, as part of Australia's new look second tier of football, but under the name Murray United FC. The change of name was to capture all things synonymous with the region. Murray United FC will promote opportunities for those wanting to play high performance football from the local competition, the Albury Wodonga Football Association (AWFA), and will begin in the second tier of the NPL, the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2. The National Premier Leagues (NPL) is a national association football competition in Australia which acts as the second tier of the sport in the country below the A-League. The NPL consists of the highest level state league in each state-based federation within Australia. 2017 FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds
The 2017 FFA Cup preliminary rounds was the qualifying competition to decide 21 of the 32 teams which took part in the 2017 FFA Cup Round of 32, along with the 10 A-League clubs and reigning National Premier Leagues champion (Sydney United 58). The preliminary rounds operated within a consistent national structure whereby club entry into the competition is staggered in each federation, with the winning clubs from Round 7 of the preliminary rounds in each member federation gaining entry into the Round of 32. All Australian clubs were eligible to enter the qualifying process through their respective FFA member federation, however only one team per club was permitted entry in the competition. FFV Community Shield
The Football Victoria Community Shield (formerly the Football Federation Victoria Community Shield) is the annual soccer match between the winners of the National Premier Leagues Victoria and the Dockerty Cup in the previous season. Serving as a "curtain raiser" in February ahead of the start of the season, it is considered to be a Super cup within the Football Victoria#Soccer pyramid in Victoria, Victorian football league system. Organised by Football Victoria, the FV Community Shield also has a focus on raising proceeds for various charity and community-based initiatives.
