Murdoch MacKay Collegiate
Murdoch MacKay Collegiate is a public, co-ed high school in the River East Transcona School Division, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. History The school was named after Murdoch Mackay, a prominent physician, leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party, member of the provincial legislature and long-time Transcona resident. MacKay taught school in his hometown of Melville, Nova Scotia, before coming west and graduating from Manitoba Medical School in 1916. When the building opened in September 1963, one year after his death, his wife, Ruby, attended the official dedication ceremony and laying of the cornerstone. The red brick structure opened with 22 rooms, but has undergone numerous expansions since, which have included the addition of Power Mechanics, Aerospace, and Fashion Technology vocational areas. The Calgary Stampeders are a professional Canadian football team based in Calgary, Alberta. The Stampeders compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The club plays its home games at McMahon Stadium and are the third-oldest active franchise in the CFL. Zack Williams (born March 2, 1997) is a professional Canadian football offensive lineman for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Early career Williams first played football at Murdoch MacKay Collegiate in grade 10 and was selected to Team Canada in 2014. He played junior football for the Winnipeg Rifles in grade 12. University career Williams played U Sports football for the Manitoba Bisons from 2015 to 2018. He played in 32 regular season games for the program. Kory Scoran (born August 24, 1981, Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Former Division 1 Hockey player for Lake Superior State University before turning professional with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL for a total of four seasons, winning the Kelly Cup in 2006-07. Kory then joined the Tilburg Trappers in the Netherlands, before returning to North America to play for the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League and then the Steelheads again. Susan Margaret Auch (born March 1, 1966) is a Canadian former speed skater who competed in five Winter Olympics, winning bronze in the 3000m relay at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, and the silver in the 500 m events at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway and the 1998 games at Nagano, Japan. In 1999, Auch announced her retirement from competition, but changed her mind and competed in a fifth Winter Olympics, the 2002 games at Salt Lake City, but didn't reach the podium and retired after those games. Canad Inns Stadium (also known as Winnipeg Stadium) was a multipurpose stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The stadium was located at the corner of St. James Street and Maroons Road, immediately north of the Polo Park Shopping Centre and the now-defunct Winnipeg Arena.
