Murder Of Ram Chander Chhatrapati
Ram Chander Chhatrapati ( hi, राम चंदर छत्रपति, died 21 November 2002) was an Indian journalist who was murdered in 2002. Chhatrapati ran a local Hindi-language evening daily ''Poora Sach'' ( hi, पूरा सच "whole truth") in Sirsa, Haryana. Chhatrapati was the journalist who published the anonymous letter accusing Dera Sacha Sauda leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh of rape, of which he would later be found guilty. On the night of 24 October, two men riding a motorcycle shot Chhatrapati at point-blank range outside his residence. The journalist succumbed to his injuries four weeks later. Ram Rahim was convicted for his role in the murder on 11 January 2019 and was sentenced to life imprisonment by Special CBI Court on 17 January 2019. Dera Sacha Sauda ("Camp True-Deal"; colloquially DSS) is an Indian non-governmental organization described as a "religious cult" and "non-profit social welfare dera" that was established on 29 April 1948 by Mastana Balochistani, an ascetic follower of Baba Sawan Singh (the second Satguru of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB)), as a centre for religious learning. After Baba Sawan Singh, the movement split into four groups, one of them led by Mastana Balochistani. After the death of Mastana Balochistani, his movement was split into three groups, with Satnam Singh leading the Sirsa group, who selected Gurmeet Ram Rahim to be his successor. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan (born 15 August 1967), known also as MSG, is the head of the Indian social group Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) since 1990. Prior to a 2017 rape conviction, he was a religious leader, actor, singer, writer, songwriter, director, and composer. He was also convicted of being involved in the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati. Santanu Bhowmik
Santanu Bhowmik (12 January 1989–20 September 2017) was a journalist murdered in the North-eastern state of Tripura in India while covering the '' raasta roko'' (road blockade) by Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT). Santanu worked for Channel Dinraat television station and was covering a clash at Mandai between the indigenous wing of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) and IPFT activists in which Bhowmik was suddenly attacked with sharp weapons. He was later found with multiple stab injuries and died before he could be taken to a hospital. Police arrested four members of the IPFT in connection with the murder. Santanu's father Sadhan Bhowmik has demanded that Central Bureau of Investigation probe the death. Sudip Datta Bhaumik (died 21 November 2017) was a journalist killed in the north-eastern state of Tripura in India by a police officer of the Tripura State Rifles during an altercation. Sudip was a reporter for the Bengali language newspaper '' Syandan Patrika'' and the local television channel News Vanguard.
