Murder Of Adrian Donohoe
Adrian Donohoe (14 January 1972 – 25 January 2013) was an Republic of Ireland, Irish detective in the Garda Síochána (Irish police) based at Dundalk Garda Station in County Louth, who was fatally shot in Bellurgan (near Jenkinstown, County Louth) on 25 January 2013 during a robbery by an armed gang of five people on a credit union. He was the first garda officer to be murdered in the line of duty since 1996, and was afforded a full state funeral. On 4 March 2018 at Dundalk District Court (Ireland), District Court, 27-year-old Aaron Brady from New Road, Crossmaglen, County Armagh, was charged with Donohoe's murder and plead not guilty. Brady's trial began at the Central Criminal Court (Ireland), Central Criminal Court in Dublin on 28 January 2020. On 12 August 2020, 29-year-old Aaron Brady was found guilty of the capital murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe and was sentenced to the mandatory term of 40 years imprisonment. Kilnaleck
Kilnaleck or Kilnalec () is a small village in County Cavan, Ireland on the R154 regional road. Kilnaleck was once the centre of a mining boom when in 1879 some local businessmen and a school headmaster decided to develop the coal that existed nearby. However, the coal was very deep and hard to extract and the mine was forced to close. The village is part of Crosserlough parish. Transport A number of Cavan Area Rural Transport (CART) routes serve Kilnaleck. Over the decades Kilnaleck was served by CIÉ and from 1987 by Bus Éireann. However in 2009 the remaining service, Bus Éireann route 179, was discontinued. Nowadays the nearest Bus Éireann routes may be accessed at Mountnugent (route 187) or Ballinagh (route 111), 7 km and 10 km distant respectively. Amenities There is a national school in the village.
