''Murder In Amityville'' is a book written by Hans Holzer and serves as a prequel to ''The Amityville Horror''. The book has been turned into a film titled ''Amityville II: The Possession''. It has since been re-released under the title ''Amityville: Fact or Fiction?'' Hans Holzer
Hans Holzer (26 January 1920 – 26 April 2009) was an Austrian-American author and parapsychologist. He wrote more than 120 books on supernatural and occult subjects for the popular market as well as several plays, musicals, films, and documentaries, and hosted a television show, ''Ghost Hunter'' (not to be confused with '' Ghost Hunters''). Life and career Holzer was born in Vienna, Austria, the son of Martha (Stransky) and Leo Holzer, a businessman. His interest in the supernatural was sparked at a young age by stories told to him by his uncle Henry. He went on to study archaeology and ancient history at the University of Vienna but as the family was Jewish, they decided it was unsafe to stay in Austria and left the country for New York City in 1938. Ronald Joseph DeFeo Jr. (September 26, 1951 – March 12, 2021) was an American mass murderer who was tried and convicted for the 1974 killings of his father, mother, two brothers, and two sisters in Amityville, Long Island, New York. Condemned to six sentences of 25 years to life, DeFeo died in prison on March 12, 2021. The case inspired the book and film versions of ''The Amityville Horror''. Colonel John Ketcham (September 10, 1782 – February 5, 1865) was an American self-taught surveyor, building contractor and judge. Colonel John Ketcham, who was the founding father of Brownstown, Indiana, was famed for his military escapades against Native Americans. His father was supposedly held captive by Native Americans.
