Municipality Of Pesnica
The Municipality of Pesnica ( sl, Občina Pesnica) is a municipality in northeastern Slovenia. The seat of the municipality is Pesnica pri Mariboru, a suburb near Maribor. It lies at the western end of the Slovene Hills in the Upper Pesnica Valley. The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region as part of the Pesnica Administrative Unit ( sl, Upravna enota Pesnica). The main economic activities in the area are tourism, transportation, viticulture, winemaking, craftsmanship and farming. Municipalities Of Slovenia
Slovenia is divided into 212 municipalities ( Slovene: ''občine'', singular'' občina''), of which 12 have urban (metropolitan) status. Jareninski Dol
Jareninski Dol (, german: Jahringthal, locally known as ''Jarenina'') is a village in the Municipality of Pesnica in northeastern Slovenia. It lies in the western part of the Slovene Hills ( sl, Slovenske gorice). The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region. Jarenina Creek ( sl, Jareninski potok) flows through the settlement. Name The name ''Jareninski Dol'' literally means 'Jarenina Valley'. The local name of the settlement, ''Jarenina'', is said to derive from the common noun ''jarkovina'' 'clearing', referring to a trenched-out area. Church The local parish church in the settlement is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor.
