O Incio is a municipality in the province of Lugo in Galicia in north-west Spain. The main attraction is the small church of Hospital, surrounded by oak and chestnut forest in a western orientated narrow valley. It is a very well preserved Romanesque church from the 12th century, in of grey marble. Friol
Friol is a municipality in the Lugo province in Galicia. It is located in northwest Spain. It is bordered on the north by Begonte and Guitiriz, to the south by Palas de Rei and Guntín, to the east by Lugo and Outeiro de Rei and to the west by the province of La Coruña. It has an area of 295 km2. It has a population of 4,533 inhabitants according to the INE in 2005. The population density is 15.36 inhabitants/km2. History In Friol, there are still vestigial megaliths, the oldest preserved in this municipality. This area was occupied by Romans and Visigoths. In the Middle Ages the families Ulloa, Parga and Seixas shared power in this term. Proof of this are the buildings, towers and castles inhabiting the territory. A Fonsagrada is a town and municipality in the province of Lugo in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwest Spain which is 25 miles east-north-east of Lugo by road. Its population in 2004 was 5,007. A Fonsagrada is situated above sea-level on the watershed between the rivers Rodil and Suarna. Historically it was an important market for a variety of agricultural produce, and it manufactured linen and frieze for local trading. Chantada, is a municipality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, Spain. Chantada is situated on the left bank of the Río Asma, a small right-hand tributary of the Minho river, and on the main road from Ourense, 29 km S. by W., to Lugo, 45 km N. by E. Cospeito
Cospeito is a municipality of the Province of Lugo in Galicia. It is situated on the plain of Terra Chá. The population in 2007 was 5,349 according to the townhall register (5,609 in 2003). Etymology It is still not clarified as to where the name comes from. According to Xosé L. G. Paz, it may have been derived from the name Conspecti (genitive of the name Conspectus). Another possibility is that it derives from "Conspectu(m)", which in Latin means "visible from the surrounding area". History and Geography It is located in the heart of Terra Chá. There are several small lakes in this area, the best known of which is the Lake of Cospeito. The surrounding wetland is populated by ducks, herons, lapwings and other species. A pre-Roman hill fort which is known as O Torrillón can still be recognized in Támoga. A nearby castle was destroyed during the Irmandiño uprising.
