Municipalities In Cantabria
Cantabria is one of the sixteen autonomous communities of Spain. It is divided into 102 municipalities, in accordance with the organizations of territories put forth in Article 137 of the 1978 Constitution of Spain: Municipal boundaries are defined in Spain's ''Ley Reguladora de las Bases del Régimen Local''. These include "the basic local entity of the territorial organization of the state", with "legal status and full capability for the completion of their ends" and their elements are "the territory, the population, and the organization"''.'' Parliament Of Cantabria
The Parliament of Cantabria, is the unicameral legislature of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. It consists of 35 members called "deputies" which are freely elected by the citizens of the region. The Parliament convenes at the Saint Raphael Hospital, an 18th century building in the City of Santander rehabilitated in the 1980s to house the Regional Assembly. Prior to 1998, the Parliament was called Regional Assembly of Cantabria. The Regionalist Party of Cantabria is the largest party in parliament, with 14 of the 35 deputies, followed by the People's Party with 9 and the Socialist Party with 7. Cantabrian Unity
Cantabrian Unity ( es, Unidad Cántabra) is a Cantabrian political party based in Torrelavega. It upholds the "Cantabrian Lábaru" as the legitimate flag of Cantabria, and advocates the Cantabrian dialect, linguistic integrity of the Cantabrian territory. The party has no defined ideological position. Cantabrian Unity was founded in early 2000 by breakaway members of the Regionalist Party of Cantabria and the defunct Union for the Progress of Cantabria headed by Juan Hormaechea. It is limited to the area of the autonomous Cantabrian community. It has been registered with the Ministry of the Interior since 5 July 2002. United Left ( es, Izquierda Unida , IU) is a federative political movement in Spain that was first organized as a coalition in 1986, bringing together several left-wing political organizations, most notably the Communist Party of Spain.
