The Municipal District of Badlands No. 7 was a municipal district in southern Alberta, Canada. It existed for seven years between 1991 and 1998 prior to its amalgamation with the former City of Drumheller to create the current Town of Drumheller. History The former Municipal District (MD) of Badlands No. 7 was originally established on January 1, 1991 when Improvement District No. 7 incorporated as a municipal district. Seven years later on January 1, 1998, the former MD of Badlands No. 7 and the former City of Drumheller amalgamated with each other to form the current Town of Drumheller. Demographics In the 2001 Census, the dissolved MD of Badlands No. 7 had a population of 1,282, a 2.9% change from its 1996 population of 1,246. With a land area of , it had a population density of in 2001. A municipal district (MD) is the most common form of all rural municipality statuses used in the Canadian province of Alberta. Alberta's municipal districts, most of which are branded as a county (e.g. Yellowhead County, County of Newell, etc.), are predominantly rural areas that may include either farmland, Crown land or a combination of both depending on their geographic location. They may also include country residential subdivisions and unincorporated communities, some of which are recognized as hamlets by Alberta Municipal Affairs. Municipal districts are created when predominantly rural areas with populations of at least 1,000 people, where a majority of their residential buildings are on parcels of land greater than 1,850 m2, apply to Alberta Municipal Affairs for municipal district status under the authority of the ''Municipal Government Act''. Area codes 587, 825, and 368 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the entire Canadian province of Alberta. Wayne is a community within the Town of Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. It was previously a Hamlet (place), hamlet within the former Municipal District of Badlands No. 7, Municipal District (MD) of Badlands No. 7 prior to the MD's amalgamation with the former City of Drumheller on January 1, 1998. Wayne is located approximately southeast of Drumheller's main townsite and northeast of Calgary. It lies in the Rosebud River valley and has an elevation of . It is accessed via Alberta Highway 10X, Highway 10X from Rosedale, Alberta, Rosedale to the north through a canyon in the badlands, across 11 bridges that span the Rosebud River.
