Mumbai BRTS
Mumbai BRTS is a bus rapid transit system in Mumbai, India. History The project was taken up by the MCGM, B.E.S.T Undertaking, and MMRDA to ease the traffic conditions of Mumbai and improve bus services. A BRTS fleet consisting of the BEST Undertaking's CNG powereJCBLCerita buses, Tata Starbuses, and Tata Marcopolo Buses was introduced in 2008. However, the BRTS did not have dedicated lanes and had to share roads with regular traffic with no right of way privileges. This resulted in a system that was a BRTS only in name. The project to provide a BRTS with dedicated lanes was first proposed in 2003. On 7 September 2012, BEST announced that it would build BRTS with dedicated lanes on Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR). Brihanmumbai Electric Supply And Transport
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) is a civic transport and electricity provider public body based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was originally set up in 1873 as a tramway company called "Bombay Tramway Company Limited". The company set up a captive thermal power station at the Wadi bunder in November 1905 to generate electricity for its trams and positioned it to also supply electricity to the city and re-branded itself to "Bombay Electric Supply & Tramways (BEST)" Company. In 1926, BEST also became an operator of motor buses. In 1947, the BEST became an undertaking of the Municipal Corporation and rebranded itself to "Bombay Electric Supply & Transport (BEST)". Thor (previously known as Marcopolo) is a family of satellites designed, launched and tested by Hughes Space and Communications (now part of Boeing Satellite Systems) for British Satellite Broadcasting (BSB), and were used for Britain's Direct Broadcast Service. Thor is owned by Telenor. Marcopolo 1 launched on 27 August 1989 on the 187th launch of a Delta rocket, and Marcopolo 2 launched on 17 August 1990, on a Delta II rocket. Jeejabai Bhosle Marg, the official name of the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR) or the Mankhurd-Ghatkopar Link Road (MGLR), is a road in eastern Mumbai connecting the suburbs of Mankhurd and Ghatkopar. The Western Express Highway, abbreviated to WEH (officially Ali Yavar Jung Marg after the former Governor of Maharashtra), is a major north–south 8-10 lane arterial road in Mumbai, India, stretching from the suburb of Mira Road to Bandra. The Eastern Express Highway, abbreviated to EEH, is a city express highway serving the cities of Mumbai and Thane. It is one of the busiest and most important roads in the Mumbai Metropolitan Area and is a part of the National Highway 48. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fuel gas mainly composed of methane (CH4), compressed to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure.
