Mulu Manek
''Mulu Manek'' is a 1955 Gujarati historical fantasy film directed by Manhar Raskapur from India. The film depicted Mulu Manek, a bandit, fighting the British. The lead roles were played by Shanta Apte and Arvind Pandya. The music was composed by Indukumar. Plot During the British Raj, Okha in Kathiawar region is captured by the British and is ruled by the Gaekwad dynasty. Before and during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, local Wagher chief Mulu Manek becomes a bandit and opposes the Gaekwad and the British. When Mulu's childhood friend Devobha's marriage proposal is rejected by Mulu's sister Devbai, Devobha joins the opposition as a soldier. Devobha has changed his mind following the sacrifice of his mother. Mulu decides to surrender to save his comrades but he is prevented and encouraged by Devobha to fight. Manhar Raskapur
Manhar Rangildas Raskapur (8 May 1922 – 14 February 1980) was an Indian film director primarily known for his works in Gujarati cinema. Biography Raskapur was born in 1922 in Surat, Gujarat, India. He studied up to the first year of college before joining the film industry. He, along with his producer Champsibhai Nagda, was the only person who consistently made Gujarati films during 1940s. His debut film was ''Jogidas Khuman'' (1948), which he remade twice. His other best known film was Mendi Rang Lagyo (1960) which became perennial hit. In 1955, he made Rajput war sagas film '' Mulu Manek'' in which he introduced Marathi singer Shanta Apte in Gujarati cinema. He adapted Gujarati writer Pannalal Patel's novel '' Malela Jeev'' into 1956 eponymous film. In 1966, he directed ''Kalapi'' which is a biopic of Gujarati poet Kalapi. Kadu Makrani (film)
''Kadu Makrani'' is a 1960 Gujarati historical fantasy film directed by Manhar Raskapur from India. The film tells the story of the historical figure Kadu Makrani, a bandit, fighting the British. The lead role was played by Arvind Pandya. The music was composed by Avinash Vyas. It was a commercial success. Plot A century ago, Makrani clan of Inaj, a settlement in Junagadh State, defy the British Raj. The British invades the settlement thus four Makrani members become bandits and harass the British. The British orders Harbhai Desai who was an administrator under the Nawab of Junagadh, to capture or kill their leader Kadar Baksh, also known as Kadu Madrani. Harbhai Desai and Kadu Makrani were childhood friends who clash on the battlefield with each other. Kadu retracted but was identified and finally captured. In 1887, he was hanged in Karachi jail.
