The NSW Premier's Multicultural Communication Awards (PCMAs), formerly Multicultural Media Awards, Multicultural and Indigenous Media Awards (MIMA) and NSW Premier's Multicultural Media Awards, are Australian journalism awards held each year at New South Wales Parliament. History The Multicultural Media Awards were founded by Lebanese-born Australian Parliamentarian Shaoquett Moselmane. They were established in 2012 to recognise outstanding journalism covering multicultural issues in Australia. To clarify an equal onus on Indigenous media, the awards were formally amended in 2014 to include Indigenous in the title. In 2017 they were called the NSW Premier's Multicultural Media Awards, and in 2022 the name was NSW Premier's Multicultural Communication Awards. New South Wales Parliament

Shaoquett Moselmane
Shaoquett Chaher Moselmane (born 1965) is a former Australian politician who was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 2009 to 2023 as a member of the parliamentary Australian Labor Party. He was assistant president of the Legislative Council from May 2019 to April 2020. Early years and background Moselmane was born in Konin, southern Lebanon. He arrived in Australia from Lebanon in 1977 with his parents, Chaher Mouslimani and Jawaher Mohanna Mouslimani, and ten siblings. He attended Rockdale Public School and James Cook Boys' High School before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (politics and government administration) from the University of Sydney. He obtained a Master degree in politics from Macquarie University and went on to complete a Bachelor of Laws at the University of New South Wales. Indigenous Australians or Australian First Nations are people with familial heritage from, and membership in, the ethnic groups that lived in Australia before British colonisation. Gerry Georgatos ( gr, Γεράσιμος Γεωργάτος; born 1962) is a university researcher and social justice and human rights campaigner based in Western Australia. He has campaigned for prison reform, as well as championing the rights of the impoverished and marginalised and the homeless. Early life Gerry Georgatos was born in 1962. The ''National Indigenous Times'' (NIT) is an Indigenous Australian affairs website, originally published as a newspaper from February 2002. History ''National Indigenous Times'' was first published in newspaper form on 27 February 2002. It was established by Owen Carriage, the founder of the ''Koori Mail''. In 2006, ''NIT'' published a major story about government staff anonymously representing themselves as independent witnesses in the ''Lateline'' report on child abuse in remote communities, with particular reference to Mutitjulu, in the Northern Territory. On 27 February 2012, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's program '' Media Watch'' aired a segment that detailed how the newspaper had repeatedly taken substantial material from other media sources without any attribution. Malarndirri Barbara McCarthy (born 19 April 1970) is an Australian politician and former journalist who has been a Senator for the Northern Territory since 2016. She is an Assistant Minister in the Albanese Government, and previously served in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly. In 2005, McCarthy was elected to the NT Legislative Assembly for the division of Arnhem. She was re-elected unopposed in 2008, and was subsequently appointed to the ministry by Paul Henderson.
