Mukuuri
Mûkûûrî is an administrative Location and township in Runyenjes Division, in Embu County, Kenya, with a population of about 15,000 people. It lies on the green, rolling hills of the Mount Kenya slopes. It is home to four public primary schools, including Kubu Kubu Memorial Boarding School and Muragari School, which is among the oldest schools in Embu and Kîrînyaga districts. Mukuuri is also home to the historic Kîrîmîri Forest Hill. The 800-acre forest was popular during Kenya's freedom war the Mau Mau. The Embu freedom fighter Kubu Kubu made the forest his main hideout. He was killed by the colonialists early 1950s. The colonial rulers burnt his body to ashes on the present location of Kubu Kubu Memorial School. Kubu Kubu
General Kubu Kubu, born Njagi wa Ikutha, was a Mau Mau leader. His ''nom de guerre,'' Kubu Kubu, means "heavy thud" and was coined from the thud his feet made because of his heavy build. Kubu Kubu (or Kubukubu) was the de facto leader of the Mau Mau Uprising battalion within the Embu country. He was also one of the leaders of Mau Mau in Kenya, alongside Dedan Kimathi, Musa Mwariama, and Waruhiu Itote, alias General China. Kubu Kubu was revered by people across Embu and feared by colonialists. He successfully led the community for more than 10 years in defending their land and families from colonial aggression. While colonial settlers carved out African lands across Kenyan highlands for themselves, they were repulsed in Embu. Embu People
The Embu are a Bantu people inhabiting Embu county in Kenya. They speak the Embu language as a mother tongue. To the south of Embu are to be found their cousins, the Mbeere people. In essence Embu county encompasses the ethnic Kî embu dialect (Embu proper), from whom the Embu county's name derives, and the Kimbere dialect spoken by their Mbeere counterparts who inhabit the lower reaches of the county. Historically, both were just referred to as the Embu people. To the west, Embu neighbours are the closely related Kikuyu in Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Kiambu, Muranga and Nyandarua counties. Gogo Salt Lick, Kenya
Gogo Salt Lick is a salt lick located in Kenya. History Gogo has been known as a place of Mûnyû (salt) for hundreds of years in Embu land, since the founding of the Embu Community. According to the Mbeere Historical Texts by Prof Mwaniki Kabeca (2005), Gogo is the place where Mwenendega, the founder of Embu tribe, met his wife Nthara. Kabeca narrates that Mwenendega, who lived near the current Mwenendega grove in Runyenjes, took his cattle to drink at the Gogo Salt Lick and found a girl who refused to talk to him at first. After much cajoling, she spoke with him and made him swear never to tell her negative things or abuse her, as there would be consequences. Runyenjes
Runyenjes is the second largest town in Embu County, Kenya. It is located about 150 km from Nairobi, and 75 km from Mount Kenya, at an altitude of 1500m.The population is estimated at 58,000 people, the majority of which are of the Embu People who speak Kiembu, a Bantu language, as well as Kiswahili and English, the two official languages in Kenya. Hon Stanley Nyaga Kithung'a
Stanley Nyagah (1936–2005), nicknamed Kĩthũng'a, was a Kenyan educationist, civil servant, technocrat and, entrepreneur who, between 1983 -1988, served as Member of Parliament for Embu North constituency, now split into Runyenjes constituency and Manyatta constituency. His campaign symbol was a key ''(rũvungoro)''. The key symbolized the opening up of hitherto inaccessible public resources to the masses. While in parliament, he served on the public investments committee. He is credited with being a visionary and development oriented leader. Nyagah initiated a rural electrification programme, piped water supply system and improvements in the road network in Embu North. Muragari School
Muragari Primary School is the third-oldest school in Embu, Kenya. It was founded 1932 by the National Independent Church of Africa near the current Mukuuri Township, Kagaari North Ward, Runyenjes Sub County. It was razed by colonialists in 1952 during the Mau Mau Uprising in Embu. Muragari was rebuilt in 1955 on 24 acres as a government school, at the site where General Kubu Kubu was cremated after being shot dead by colonial officers. Muragari now comprises a day primary school, Muragari Secondary School and Kubu Kubu Memorial Boarding Primary School in memory of General Kubu Kubu. Martin Nyaga Wambora
Martin Nyaga Wambora (born 9 April 1951) is a Kenyan politician. He is the first governor of Embu County in Kenya after winning on a TNA (The National Alliance) ticket in the Embu gubernatorial elections which was conducted in March 2013. He would later become the first Governor in Kenya to be impeached not once but twice but he successfully challenged the impeachment later and overwhelmingly Re elected in 2017 winning his 2nd term in office. The palatine uvula, usually referred to as simply the uvula, is a conic projection from the back edge of the middle of the soft palate, composed of connective tissue containing a number of racemose glands, and some muscular fibers.
