Adolphus Ludigo-Mukasa
Adolphus Ludigo-Mkasa, also known as Adolofu Mukasa Ludigo (c. 1861 – June 3, 1886), was a Ugandan Catholic martyr killed for his faith. Life Ludigo-Mkasa was a Munyoro from Mwenge in the western part of the country. At a young age, he was abducted by Baganda raiders and became a companion of Charles Lwanga at court. Ludigo-Mkasa was put in charge of the Kabaka’s gardens. Protestant missionaries began arriving in Buganda in 1877, followed two years later by the Catholic Missionaries of Africa. King Muteesa I welcomed the missionaries and played off the Catholics, Anglicans, and the Moslem traders, seeming to favor first one, then another, for political gain. The court was at Nabulagala, with a Catholic mission nearby at Kasubi. It was there that Ludigo-Mkasa began to take religious instruction around 1881. Fred Mukasa Mbidde (born 15 October 1974) is a Ugandan lawyer, human-rights activist, mass communication specialist, motivational speaker and politician. He is an elected member of the 3rd East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), representing the Republic of Uganda. He has been in this office since June 2012. Ashe Mukasa (born April 1952) is a former Ugandan football midfielder who played for Uganda in the 1978 African Cup of Nations. Ham Mukasa
Ham Mukasa also referred to as Hamu Mukasa (c. 1870–1956) was a vizier in the court of Mutesa I of Buganda (in present-day Uganda) and later secretary to Apolo Kagwa. He was fluent in both English and Swahili. He wrote one of the first glossaries of the Ganda language. Early life Mukasa was the son of Makabugo Sensalire, a minor chief in Buddu (in present-day Masaka District). He converted to Christianity at a young age. He suffered serious injury in the 1886 massacre of Christians by Mwanga II. As a result, he had a weak leg. Joseph Mukasa
Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe (1860 – 15 November 1885) was a Ugandan Catholic martyr and the majordomo at the court of Mwanga II of Buganda, recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church. The Missionaries of Our Lady of Africa came to Uganda in 1879. Balikuddembe was enrolled as a catechumen in the following year and along with Andrew Kaggwa, was baptized by Père Simon Lourdel M.Afr. (Fr. Mapera) on 30 April 1882. Balikuddembe took the baptismal name of "Joseph". From November 1882 to July 1885 the Catholic missionaries, for reasons of security, abandoned the Ugandan mission and re-located temporarily to the southern end of Lake Victoria. Ruben Spartas Mukasa
Bishop Christopher (secular name Ruben Spartas Mukasa, born Reuben Mukasa Mugimba Sobanja; 1899 – 4 June 1982) was an early-20th-century religious reformer in Uganda. He had been part of the King's African Rifles of the British Army, but came to feel that there needed to be an end to colonial rule in Africa and that this must be obtained through a religious rejuvenation with independent Christian Churches. Mukasa formed the African Progressive Association, the Christian Army for the Salvation of Africa and he also formed a branch of the African Orthodox Church in Uganda. That later came about in 1932 when Mukasa was ordained a priest by a bishop under Marcus Garvey. Mukasura
Mukasura or Mukāsura (मुकासुर) was an ''asura'' in the Indian epic ''Mahabharata''. He was a friend of the Kauravas and the son of Upasunda, who was sent to disturb the austerities that Arjuna was performing at Indra keeladri, geographically now in Andhra pradesh. Mukasura went to the forest where Arjuna was practicing his vows of prayer, vigil, and fast and attacked Arjuna in the form of a boar. Arjuna was actually conducting his penance to please Siva and obtain the great weapon called '' pasupatha-astra'' (the missile of pasupatha, the lord of the animate world). Lord Siva sends Mukasara in the form of a boar to test the severity of Arjuna's penances. He follows the boar in the guise of a hunter. Arjuna gets angry at the disturbing beast and shoots an arrow, while Siva simultaneously pierces it with an arrow of his own.
