Mujiv Sabbihi Hataman
Mujiv Sabbihi Hataman (born September 11, 1972) is a Filipino indigenous people's rights advocate and politician from the indigenous Yakan people of the Sulu Archipelago. He became nationally prominent when he served as the sixth and last regional governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao from 2011 until it was replaced by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in 2019. Since 2019, he has been serving as the representative of Basilan's lone district and concurrently as a House Deputy Speaker. On July 10, 2020, he was one of the 11 representatives who voted to grant the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN. Yakan People
The Yakan people are among the major indigenous Filipino ethnolinguistic groups in the Sulu Archipelago. Having a significant number of followers of Islam, it is considered one of the 13 Moro people, Moro groups in the Philippines. The Yakans mainly reside in Basilan but are also in Zamboanga City. They speak a language known as ''Yakan language, Bissa Yakan'', which has characteristics of both Sama-Bajau Sinama and Tausug language, Tausug (Jundam 1983: 7-8). It is written in the Malayan Arabic script, with adaptations to sounds not present in Arabic (Sherfan 1976). The Yakan have a traditional horse culture. They are renowned for their weaving traditions. Culturally, they are Sama people who eventually led a life on land, mostly in Basilan and Zamboanga city.
