Muir Central College
Muir Central College in Allahabad in northern India was a college of higher education founded by William Muir in 1872. It had a separate existence to 1921, when as a result of the Allahabad University Act it was merged into Allahabad University. The buildings (1872–1886) were a design by the British architect William Emerson. Initially the college was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. :The Muir Central College and the university were conceived to train, equip and mould the youth of the country to shoulder the responsibilities of life. Its students as the time passed by were spread all over the country and abroad filling up learned professions, the public and social services the world of trade and industry and the spheres of politics and diplomacy. Ganesh Prasad
Ganesh Prasad (15 November 1876 – 9 March 1935) was an Indian mathematician who specialised in the theory of potentials, theory of functions of a real variable, Fourier series and the theory of surfaces. He was trained at the Universities of Cambridge and Göttingen and on return to India he helped develop the culture of mathematical research in India. The mathematical community of India considers Ganesh Prasad as the ''Father of Mathematical Research in India''. He was also an educator taking special interest in the advancement of primary education in the rural areas of India. Early days Ganesh Prasad was born on 15 November 1876 at Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. Georg Thibaut
George Frederick William Thibaut (March 20, 1848 – 1914) was an Indologist notable for his contributions to the understanding of ancient Indian mathematics and astronomy. Life Thibaut was born in Germany, worked briefly in England, and then in 1875, was appointed Professor at the Government Sanskrit College, Varanasi in northern India. From 1888 to 1895, he was professor at Muir Central College in Allahabad. On 6 November 2014, in its column "100 Years Ago" ''The Statesman'' reprinted the following obituary on the late Dr. Thibaut: The death is reported at Heidelberg Hospital, Germany of Dr George Thibaut, C.I.E., Ph.D., D.Sc., who recently retired from the Education Service as Registrar of the Calcutta University. Morale, also known as esprit de corps (), is the capacity of a group's members to maintain belief in an institution or goal, particularly in the face of opposition or hardship. Morale is often referenced by authority figures as a generic value judgment of the willpower, obedience, and self-discipline of a group tasked with performing duties assigned by a superior.
