Muhos Railway Station
Muhos railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Muhos in the Northern Ostrobothnia region in Finland on the Oulu–Kontiomäki railway line. It is the second station east from Oulu railway station and the first passenger service station east from Oulu. The station was opened in 1927, and it was a staffed station until in 1998 when centralized traffic control was installed. Passenger and freight service Passenger trains are operated by the national railway operator VR Group. There are eight daily passenger trains stopping at Muhos, four westbound and four eastbound. As of 2007 there is no freight service available in Muhos. Aarne Ervi
Aarne Adrian Ervi (originally Aarne Adrian Elers) (19 May 1910 – 26 September 1977) was one of the most important architects of Finland's post-World War II reconstruction period. Ervi was born in Forssa, and graduated as an architect from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1935. After his graduation, he worked in the architect offices of Alvar Aalto and Toivo Paatela, before starting his own office in 1938. Ervi completed his most notable and well-known works during the post-war reconstruction period and later in the 1950s during the development of Finland's modern construction industry. Ervi was among the pioneers in the use of concrete elements in Finnish architecture while working on the design of the University of Helsinki's Porthania building in 1949. He also designed hydro power plants and residential areas for the company's employees for Oulujoki Oy. Armi Kuusela
Armi Helena Kuusela (born 20 August 1934) is a Finnish-American charity worker, model and beauty queen. In 1952, she won the Finnish national beauty contest Suomen Neito and was presented with a trip to the United States to participate in the first-ever Miss Universe pageant, becoming its first titleholder. Early life Armi Helena Kuusela was one of six children born to Finnish parents who owned and operated a small family business, except when her father, a decorated veteran, fought for Finland during WWII. Pirkko Mattila
Pirkko Anneli Mattila is a Finnish politician and a former Member of the Finnish Parliament, representing the Blue Reform party at the end of her tenure. She was first elected MP in the 2011 general election. Mattila replaced Hanna Mäntylä as the Minister of Social Affairs and Health in 2016, following Mäntylä's resignation. As minister, Mattila was notably responsible for examining the implementation of negative income tax in Finland. Kylmälänkylä
Kylmälänkylä is one of the longest villages in Finland, spanning 25 kilometers. It belongs to the municipality of Muhos in the province of Oulun lääni. Kylmälänkylä has an active village association. The roads in the area are in poor condition due to heavy lumber traffic eroding the roads. The main regional road has received a new pavement since that and is more comfortable to drive but the road has degraded since the fix. The village has seen some families moving in and new residential houses built. The Finnish national road 22 ( fi, Valtatie 22; sv, Riksväg 22; also known as ''Kainuuntie'', "Kainuu Road") is the main route between the major cities of Oulu and Kajaani in northern Finland. The road is long, and it is part of the national transport route network that connects two regions, North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu. Oulu–Kontiomäki Railway
Oulu–Kontiomäki railway is a railway line in Finland. The line is owned and maintained by the Finnish Rail Administration. It connects the city of Oulu to station at Kontiomäki, which is a junction of five railway lines in Paltamo municipality, approximately north from the city of Kajaani. The line is single-tracked and electrified with a total length of . The traffic is controlled via centralized traffic control by the operator located in Oulu rail traffic control center at Oulu railway station. Starting from Oulu, the line extends eastward, generally following the southern bank of Oulu River until it reaches Vaala station, where the line crosses over the river. The Province of Oulu ( fi, Oulun lääni, sv, Uleåborgs län) was a province of Finland from 1775 to 2009.
