Muhoroni is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of seven constituencies of Kisumu County. Constituencies of Kenya are used to elect members of the National Assembly, the lower chamber of the Kenyan Parliament. In accordance with article 89 of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, there are 290 constituencies, based on a formula where these constituencies were to be delineated based on population numbers. 2007 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 27 December 2007. Voters elected the President, and members of the National Assembly. They coincided with the 2007 Kenyan local elections. Incumbent Mwai Kibaki, running on a Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket, defeated Raila Odinga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Kalonzo Musyoka of Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya. The elections were strongly marked by ethnic hostility, with Kibaki a member of the traditionally dominant Kikuyu ethnic group, gaining much support amongst the Kikuyu and neighbouring groups in central Kenya, including the Embu and Meru. Odinga, as a member of the Luo ethnic group, succeeded in creating a wider base by building a coalition with regional leaders from the Luhya in Western Kenya, Kalenjin from the Rift Valley and Muslim leaders from the Coast Province. Chemelil is a town in Kisumu County, Kenya. It is part of Muhoroni District. Chemelil has a railway station along the Nairobi-Kisumu Railway between the stations of Kibigori and Muhoroni. Ahero is a town in the city of Kisumu, the third largest city in Kenya. It is an agriculture town in Kenya that is part of Kisumu County. Koru is a small town centre in Kisumu County, Kenya, Africa (0.1833° S, 35.2667° E). It forms an electoral ward of Muhoroni Constituency and Muhoroni town council. People's Democratic Party (Kenya)
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a political party in Kenya. History The PDP was established in 1992. It won a single seat in the 2007 general elections, Richard Momoima Onyonka in Kitutu Chache Constituency. In 2010 Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP James Omingo Magara defected to the party after the ODM did not nominate him as its candidate in the South Mugirango by-election, which was held after Magara's victory in the 2007 elections was annulled due to irregularities. However, Magara was defeated in the by-election. Onyonka defected to the ODM prior to the 2013 general elections, in which the PDP nominated 22 candidates. It received 0.8% of the vote, again winning a single seat; Onyango K'Oyoo in Muhoroni Constituency. The party also won the governorship of Migori County, where Okoth Obado was victorious.
