Mugma Area is one of the 14 operational areas of Eastern Coalfields Limited located in Dhanbad district in the state of Jharkhand, India. Geography Location The Mugma Area is located around The Mugma Area is bounded by the rural areas of Jamtara district on the north, the Sodepur Area of ECL, in Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, across the Barakar, on the east, Raghunathpur subdivision of Purulia district of West Bengal, across the Damodar, on the south, and the Jharia Coalfield on the west. Eastern Coalfields
Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is a coal producer based in India. The company was founded in 1975 after nationalisation of coal mines in India. It operates coal mines in Jharkhand and West Bengal states of India. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of the Raniganj Coalfield. It is one of the fully owned subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. The company has its headquarters at Sanctoria, in West Bengal. Backdrop Coalmining in India first started in the Raniganj Coalfield. In 1774, John Sumner and Suetonius Grant Heatly of the British East India Company found coal near Ethora, presently in Salanpur community development block. Chanch/ Victoria Area is one of the 12 operational areas of BCCL located in Dhanbad Sadar subdivision of Dhanbad district in the state of Jharkhand, and in Asansol Sadar subdivision of Paschim Bardhaman district in West Bengal, both in India.
