Muara Naval Base
The Muara Naval Base ( ms, Pangkalan Tentera Laut Muara), is a naval base that serves as the main headquarters for the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), which is located in Muara, Brunei-Muara District, Brunei. It can also be noted that the base sits near the mouth of the Brunei River, which flows into the Brunei Bay. History During World War II, then occupied Muara was previously used by the Japanese Navy as a naval base until the country was liberated by the Australian 9th Division. The Royal Brunei Navy's administration of First Sea Battalion was relocated to its current location in 1974. The United States Navy warship USS ''Robert E. Peary'' (FF-1073) was berthed at the naval base in 1989. Brunei ordered three Nakhoda Ragam-class corvettes and were planned to be based at the naval base in 1991. Muara, Brunei
Muara Town ( ms, Pekan Muara) or simply Muara is a port town in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei, about from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. The population of the town proper was 2,102 in 2016. It is home to Muara Port, the country's primary deep water port. Location Muara can be found in Mukim Serasa and is located on the easternmost tip of West Brunei. It lends its name to the district which it is in, the Brunei-Muara district. To the north is the South China Sea, to the south is the Brunei Bay, and across the bay is Pulau Muara Besar. Development Background A total of four ''Ijtihad''-class fast patrol boats were commissioned into service with the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), where two of the ships began operating since March 2010, followed by another two on 28 August 2010. Sikorsky S-70
The Sikorsky S-70 is an American medium transport/utility helicopter family manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft. It was developed for the United States Army in the 1970s, winning a competition to be designated the UH-60 Black Hawk and spawning a large family in U.S. military service. New and improved versions of the UH-60 have been developed since. Civilian versions, and some military versions, are produced under various S-70 model designations. BRIDEX
Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BRIDEX) is a biennial defence exhibition and conference held in Negara Brunei Darussalam starting from 2007. Kampong Kapok
Kampong Kapok is a village in the north-east of Brunei-Muara District, Brunei and has an area of ; the population was 2,791 in 2016. Name The village is named after the kapok tree, ''Bombax ceiba'', that cane be seen in its immediate surroundings. In addition to moss, the locals at the time also profited from the usage of Kapok fruits as cushions. People who are either from the location in question or who desire to visit it also refer to themselves as "from Kapok" or "want to go to Kapok" using the phrase. The usage of the name Kapok persisted after then, and the community came to be known as Kampung Kapok. A joint effort from MPK Kapok to preserve the history of taking the name of this village has been implemented. Some kapok saplings are planted in some strategic places.
