Muang Loei United Football Club (Thai สโมสรฟุตบอลเมืองเลย ยูไนเต็ด), is a Thai football club based in Mueang, Loei, Thailand. The club was the champion in the 2016 Football Division 3 of North Eastern Region and was promoted to Thai League 4 North Eastern Region. The club was formed in 2012 and entered the Thai Football Division 3 in 2016. The club was renamed from ''Wang Saphung Football Club''. The club is currently playing in the Thai League 3 Northeastern region. History In 2022, Muang Loei United competed in the Thai League 3 for the 2022–23 season. It is their 6th season in the professional league. The club started the season with a 1–1 away draw with Mahasarakham SBT and they ended the season with a 3–1 home win over Sakon Nakhon. Wang Saphung District
Wang Saphung ( th, วังสะพุง; ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the central part of Loei province, northeastern Thailand. The district has been the site of a long-standing dispute between the villagers of Ban Na Nong Bong and its environs and Tungkum Limited, a subsidiary of Tongkah Harbour PCL. Tungkum extracts gold from an open pit mine in district and has been charged with environmental destruction by many of those living nearby. History ''Khwaeng'' Wang Saphung was a satellite city of ''Mueang'' Lom Sak. It was assigned to be under Mueang Loei on 4 January 1907. Geography Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise): Mueang Loei district, Erawan, Pha Khao, Nong Hin, Phu Luang, and Phu Ruea of Loei Province. 2019 Thai League Cup
The 2019 Thai League Cup is the 10th season in the second era of a Thailand's knockout football competition. All games are played as a single match. It was sponsored by Toyota, and known as the Toyota League Cup ( th, โตโยต้า ลีกคัพ) for sponsorship purposes. 83 clubs were accepted into the tournament, and it began with the first qualification round on 23 February 2019, and concluded with the final on 28 September 2019. The tournament has been readmitted back into Thai football after a 10-year absence. The prize money for this prestigious award is said to be around 5 million baht and the runners-up will be netting 1 million baht. This is the first edition of the competition and the qualifying round will be played in regions featuring clubs from the Thai League 3 and Thai League 4.
