Mr. Moto's Gamble
''Mr. Moto's Gamble'' is the third film in the Mr. Moto series starring Peter Lorre as the title character. It is best remembered for originating as a movie in the Charlie Chan series and being changed to a Mr. Moto entry at the last minute. Plot In San Francisco, policeman Lieutenant Riggs (Harold Huber) takes Mr. Moto, a detective and Lee Chan (Keye Luke), a student, to a prizefight between Bill Steele (Dick Baldwin) and Frank Stanton (Russ Clark), where the winner will take on the champion, Biff Moran ( Ward Bond). However, the fight is fixed and gangster Nick Crowder ( Douglas Fowley) bets big money that Stanton won't make it to the fifth round. He goes down in the fourth and dies shortly afterward. Bookie Clipper McCoy (Bernard Nedell) loses a fortune. Moto proves that it was murder and it is revealed that $100,000 was won in bets around the country against Stanton. Moto works with Lt. John Stone (September 12, 1888 – June 3, 1961) was an American film producer and screenwriter. He was born in New York City and died in Los Angeles, California. Jayne Regan
Bobbie Stoffregen (July 28, 1909 – March 19, 2000), known professionally as Jayne Regan, was an American film actress. Her original name was sometimes seen as Bobby Stoffregen. Regan was the daughter of Herman C. and Anna Stoffregen. From age 2 to 15, she studied dance, drama, and singing in addition to attending Mary Institute. In 1932, she graduated with an A. B. degree from Washington University in St. Louis, after which she acted in Western films for Reliable Pictures while attending drama school for two years. She was under contract to Twentieth Century Fox during the 1930s. On December 21, 1937, Regan married Jerry Gose, a production manager at Twentieth Century Fox. On June 21, 1951, the couple divorced in Hollywood. Olin Ross Howland (February 10, 1886 – September 20, 1959) was an American film and theatre actor. Life and career Howland was born in Denver, Colorado, to Joby A.
