Mongezi Thomas Stuurman (22 September 1995 – 9 August 2021), known professionally as Mpura, was a South African rapper, fashion designer and record producer best known for his hit song "Umsebenzi Wethu". Early life and education Mpura was born and raised in Soweto, Gauteng . He attended Highlands North Boys’ High School. Career Before he rose to fame in the music industry, he was involved in fashion and founded Mpura Designs, a unisex street style brand. In 2018, he made his South African Fashion Week debut, showcasing his Autumn/Winter 2019 collection. On 11 December 2020, he and Busta 929 featuring Lady Du, Reece Madlisa, Mr JazziQ and Zuma single ''Umsebenzi Wethu'' was released. The song reached number one local iTunes charts and was certified platinum. Sakhile Hlatshwayo (5 July 1998 – 7 August 2021), known professionally as Killer Kau, he was a South African singer , dancer and record producer best known for his hit songs "Tholukuthi Hey" and "Amaneighbour" Early life and career Killer Kau was born on 5 July 1998 in Soweto, South Africa. He grew up singing in church before he joined the Stay PC church choir, singing baritone. He also went on to join the African Heavenly Soul Singers male choir. His music career began when he was still attending school and when he wrote his matric in 2017. Tumelo Manyoni known professionally as Mr JazziQ, is a South African Amapiano DJ and record producer. He is best known for being a former member of the amapiano DJ duo, JazziDisciples. Early life and education Mr JazziQ was born and raised in Alexandra by his grandmother whilst his parents stayed in the north of Johannesburg. He attended Highlands North Boys’ High School. Career He started his DJ career at the early age of fourteen and producing at the age of sixteen. He started producing different music genres before he partnered with Josiah, who was also producing amapiano before their collaboration. Soweto () is a township of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa, bordering the city's mining belt in the south. Amapiano Musicians
Amapiano ( Zulu for "the pianos") is a style of house music that emerged in South Africa in the mid 2010s. It is a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterized by synths and wide percussive basslines. It is distinguished by high-pitched piano melodies, Kwaito basslines, low tempo 1990s South African house rhythms and percussions from another local subgenre of house known as Tribal house. Origins Although the genre gained popularity in Katlehong, the township east of Johannesburg, there is a lot of ambiguity and debate concerning its origins, with various accounts of the musical styles in the Johannesburg townships – Soweto, Alexandra, Vosloorus and Katlehong. North West (South African Province)
North West is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Mahikeng. The province is located to the west of the major population centre of Gauteng and south of Botswana. History North West was incorporated after the end of Apartheid in 1994, and includes parts of the former Transvaal Province and Cape Province, as well as most of the former bantustan of Bophuthatswana. It was the scene of political violence in Khutsong, Merafong City Local Municipality in 2006 and 2007, after cross-province municipalities were abolished and Merafong Municipality was transferred entirely to North West. Rustenburg (; , Afrikaans and Dutch: ''City of Rest'') is a city at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountain range.
