Moyo Island
Moyo (older spelling Mojo) is an island in Indonesia's West Nusa Tenggara province. It is off the north coast of Sumbawa Island, and has an area of 349 km2. Moyo Island is located in Sumbawa Regency within the Nusa Tenggara province, just north of Sumbawa. The island has an area of 32,044 hectares, about 8° south of the equator. The island is proposed as part of ''Moyo Satonda National Park'' along with Satonda Island. The island is mostly uninhabited and unknown to the majority of tourists; the population is about 1000 inhabitants distributed in 6 villages, all of them living on fishing and farming. In 1986 a National park was established in order to conserve and protect the extraordinary vegetation, its uniqueness and the many animal species (birds, bats, monkeys, wild pigs, deer) and a Marine Reserve with the goal of preserving the unspoiled reefs surrounding the island. Lesser Sunda Islands
The Lesser Sunda Islands or nowadays known as Nusa Tenggara Islands ( id, Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara, formerly ) are an archipelago in Maritime Southeast Asia, north of Australia. Together with the Greater Sunda Islands to the west they make up the Sunda Islands. The islands are part of a volcanic arc, the Sunda Arc, formed by subduction along the Sunda Trench in the Java Sea. A bit more than 20 million people live on the islands. Etymologically, Nusa Tenggara means "Southeast Islands" from the words of ''nusa'' which means 'island' from Old Javanese language and ''tenggara'' means 'southeast'. West Nusa Tenggara
West Nusa Tenggara ( id, Nusa Tenggara Barat – NTB) is a province of Indonesia. It comprises the western portion of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the exception of Bali which is its own province. Mataram, on Lombok, is the capital and largest city of the province. Sumbawa Regency
Sumbawa Regency ( id, Kabupaten Sumbawa) is a Regency (''Kabupaten'') of the Indonesian Province of West Nusa Tenggara. It is located on the island of Sumbawa and covers an area of 6,643.98 km2 following the separation on 18 December 2003 of what were until then its westernmost five districts to form the newly-created West Sumbawa Regency. It includes the substantial island of Moyo Island, Moyo, lying off the north coast of Sumbawa. Satonda Island
Satonda is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. It is off the north coast of Sumbawa island. The Island is located in Dompu Regency, 3 km from Sanggar Strait in the Flores Sea and is administratively part of the Nangamiro Village area of Pekat District. Satonda island was formed from the eruption of Mount Satonda thousands of years ago. Satonda volcano is said to be older than Mount Tambora, which is about 30 kilometers from the island. Satonda island has a vast natural coral reefs in the surrounding waters and was designated a Marine Nature Park (TWAL) in 1999 by the Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia. Moyo Island Hunting Park
On 29 September 1986, thanks to a decree by the Minister of Environment, the ‘Moyo Island Hunting Park’ was established. It is a Natural Reserve covering 22,537.90 hectares, currently managed by the Conservation Bureau of West Nusa Tenggara. This area is home to long tail macaques (''Macaca fascicularis''), wild bovines, wild pigs, deer ('' Cervus timorensis'') and 21 bat species, including flying foxes.
