Movement For Integration And Unification
Movement for Integration and Unification, ( sq, Lëvizja Kombëtare për Integrim dhe Bashkim) was a radical nationalist political party in Kosovo, being a direct successor of National Movement for the Liberation of Kosovo, ( sq, Lëvizja Kombëtare për Çlirimin e Kosovës, LKÇK), a radical left-wing nationalist political movement in Kosovo, coming out as a faction of LPK in the 1990s promoting war against the Yugoslavian authorities and strong Albanian irredentism. Its leader was Smajl Latifi, followed by Fadil Fazliu after his resignation. In May 2011, MIU joined the Movement for Unification ( sq, Lëvizja për Bashkim, LB), of Avni Klinaku, another former member of National Movement for the Liberation of Kosovo. Albanian nationalism is a general grouping of nationalist ideas and concepts generated by ethnic Albanians that were first formed in the 19th century during the Albanian National Awakening ( sq, Rilindja). Kosovo is the birthplace of the Albanian nationalist movement which emerged as a response to the Eastern Crisis of 1878. Kosovo War
The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The conflict ended when the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intervened by beginning air strikes in March 1999 which resulted in Yugoslav forces withdrawing from Kosovo. The KLA was formed in the early 1990s to fight against Serbian persecution of Kosovo Albanians, with the goal of uniting Kosovo into a Greater Albania. The Albanians of Kosovo ( sq, Shqiptarët e Kosovës, ), also commonly called Kosovo Albanians, Kosovar/Kosovan Albanians or Kosovars/Kosovans, constitute the largest ethnic group in Kosovo. The Movement for Unification ( sq, Lëvizja për Bashkim, ''LB'') is a political party in Kosovo. Its main goal is unification of Kosovo and all other former Yugoslavian territories populated by Albanians to Albania.
