Moura () is a city and a municipality in the District of Beja in Portugal, subdivided into 5 ''freguesias''. The population in 2011 was 15,167, in an area of 958.46 km2. The city itself had a population of 8,459 in 2001. It has now around 11,000 inhabitants. The current Mayor is José Pós de Mina, elected by the Unitary Democratic Coalition. The municipal holiday is 24 June. It is home to Moura Photovoltaic Power Station, one of Europe's largest solar-power facilities. Moura is a Portuguese wine region centered on the town of Moura in the Alentejo wine region. The region was initially a separate '' Indicação de Proveniencia Regulamentada'' (IPR) region, but in 2003, it became one of eight subregions of the Alentejo DOC, which has the higher '' Denominação de Origem Controlada'' (DOC) status. Miguel Ângelo Moita Garcia (born 4 February 1983) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played mainly as a right-back. Club career Garcia was born in Moura, Alentejo, being a youth product of Sporting CP and making his debut with the first team in 2003–04, in a 2–1 away win against Académica de Coimbra where he played the first half. The following season was remarkable for him: first, against S.L. Benfica in the Taça de Portugal, he missed the penalty that eliminated his team in the round of 16 on 26 January 2005. Gonçalo Abecasis
Gonçalo Rocha Abecasis (born 1976) is a Portuguese American biomedical researcher at the University of Michigan and was chair of the Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health. He leads a group at the Center for Statistical Genetics in the Department of Biostatistics, where he is also the Felix E. Moore Collegiate Professor of Biostatistics and director of the Michigan Genomic Initiative. His group develops statistical tools to analyze the genetics of human disease. Eunice Muñoz, Order of St. James of the Sword, OSE, Order of Infante D. Henrique, GCIH (30 July 1928 – 15 April 2022) was a Portuguese actress, considered one of the best Portuguese actresses ever. Moura is a small town and locality in the Shire of Banana in Central Queensland, Australia. It services the surrounding coal mining and rural activities.
