Mountifort Conner
Mountifort Longfield Conner (18 September 1824 – c. 12 November 1880), occasionally referred to as M. Longfield Conner, was an auctioneer, commission agent and politician in the British colony of South Australia. He was well known as a sporting gentleman in South Australia and sporting journalist in Victoria and New South Wales. History He was the youngest son of Daniel Conner (1798–1880) and his wife Elizabeth, née Longfield (daughter of Rev. Mountifort Longfield), of Ballineen, County Cork, Ireland. He came to public notice when he offered a directorship on the South Eastern Railway Company to John Riddoch MHA, which Riddoch properly rejected. He was involved as a judge and administrator in various forms of equestrian sport: hunting, steeplechasing and flat racing. Ballineen
The twin villages of Ballineen () and Enniskeane () in County Cork in Ireland are southwest of Cork City, on the R586 road. Ballineen and Enniskean lie on the River Bandon between Bandon and Dunmanway and the fertile Bandon valley. History Ballineen belonged first to the Earls of Cork and later to the Earls of Bandon. Francis Bernard, 3rd Earl of Bandon improved the village in the mid-19th century by building a market house, courthouse, Weslyan Chapel, Gothic church and two schools in the area. Ballineen held monthly fairs until the mid-1960s. Enniskean takes its name from Cian Maol Muadh (later O'Mahony) a local chieftain and has a connection with Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland. Malaria
Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease that affects humans and other animals. Malaria causes symptoms that typically include fever, tiredness, vomiting, and headaches. The Government of the Northern Territory of Australia, also referred to as the Northern Territory Government, the Government of the Northern Territory or simply the NT Government, is the executive branch of the Northern Territory. William Gosse (explorer)
William Christie Gosse (11 December 1842–12 August 1881), was an Australian explorer, who was born in Hoddesdon,"Gosse, William Christie (1842–1881)". Hertfordshire, England and immigrated to Australia with his father Dr. William Gosse in 1850. He was educated at J. L. Young's Adelaide Educational Institution and in 1859 he entered the Government service of South Australia. He held various positions in the survey department, including Deputy Surveyor-General. He died of a heart attack on 12 August 1881, aged 38, after a long illness. Although Gosse's exploration was not groundbreaking, he filled in many details in the central map. Mount Conner
Mount Conner, also known as Atila, Artilla, or Fool-uru, is a mountain located in the southwest corner of the Northern Territory of Australia, southeast of Lake Amadeus, in the locality of Petermann. It lies within the Curtin Springs cattle station in Pitjantjatjara country, close to the site of the Kungkarangkalpa (Seven Sisters) Dreaming. ''The Evening News'' was the first evening newspaper published in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was published from 29 July 1867 to 21 March 1931. The Sunday edition was published as the ''Sunday News''. History ''The Evening News'' was founded in 1867 by Samuel Bennett and was regarded as a "less serious read" than other Sydney newspapers.
