Mountain Cabin
Mountain Cabin Recreation Site is a recreation site, and former settlement, near the north-eastern ridge of the Pasquia Hills in Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The recreation area has free camping, fire pits, a shelter, and bathrooms, and is one of the closest free camping areas to Wildcat Hill Provincial Park. It is located at the junction of Saskatchewan Highways 9 and 55, approximately 88 km north of Hudson Bay, 76 km south of The Pas, and 42 km east of Pakwaw Lake. The Pasquia Hills are sometimes known as the Pasquia Mountains, or The Pas Mountains, which is where the word Mountain comes from in the name. The original cabin belonged to a mining prospector, and was embedded into the side of a hill. Another potential origin of the name comes from the Forest Ranger cabin in the area. Pasquia Hills are hills in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. They are located in the east central part of the province in the RM of Hudson Bay No. 394 near the Manitoba border. The hills are the northern most in a series of hills called the Manitoba Escarpment. The Manitoba Escarpment marks the western edge of the pre-historical glacial Lake Agassiz. The other four hills include Porcupine Hills, Duck Mountain, and Riding Mountain. There are three main watersheds that flow from Pasquia Hills, all of which are part of the Hudson Bay drainage basin. The rivers flowing from the north side meet the Saskatchewan River, which eventually works its way into Lake Winnipeg. Prospecting is the first stage of the geological analysis (followed by exploration) of a territory. It is the search for minerals, fossils, precious metals, or mineral specimens. It is also known as fossicking. Traditionally prospecting relied on direct observation of mineralization in rock outcrops or in sediments. Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan
Hudson Bay is a town in east-central Saskatchewan, Canada, west of the Manitoba border. The town is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Hudson Bay No. 394. History In 1757, a Hudson Bay Company fur trading post was established in the Hudson Bay District beside the Red Deer River. Ruins from the post have been found near the village of Erwood. In 1790, the North West Trading Company set up a trading post at the mouth of the Etomami River called Fort Red Deer River. Speculators think that a South Company's post was set up on the opposite mouth of the River, where there are remains of a second post unaccounted for. Over the years a settlement grew and, in July 1907, an application was made to erect Etomami as a village; Etomami was a native word that meant "a place that three rivers join." Highway 55 is a paved, undivided provincial highway in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
