Mount Tabor (British Columbia)
Mount Tabor, , is a mountain east of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada adjacent to BC Highway 16. It rises about from the small portion of the Nechako Plateau that lies in the angle of the Fraser River and not part of the Cariboo Mountains which begin just to the east, the summit is the site of a former fire lookout tower and is the highest piece of relief in the Greater Prince George area (it may also in some reckonings be the northward limit of the Quesnel Highland rather than part of the plateau). The highest summit of a generally north-striking ridge between Prince George and the lowland of the Willow River, its summit has about 550m of relief from the surrounding terrain; Tabor Lake at its foot to the west is in elevation. The Columbia Mountains are a group of mountain ranges along the upper Columbia River in British Columbia, Montana, Idaho and Washington. The mountain range covers 135,952 km² (52,491 sq mi). Fire Lookout Tower
A fire lookout tower, fire tower or lookout tower, provides housing and protection for a person known as a "fire lookout" whose duty it is to search for wildfires in the wilderness. It is a small building, usually on the summit of a mountain or other high vantage point, to maximize viewing distance and range, known as ''view shed''. From this vantage point the fire lookout can see smoke that may develop, determine the location by using a device known as an ''Osborne Fire Finder'', and call fire suppression personnel to the fire. Lookouts also report weather changes and plot the location of lightning strikes during storms. The location of the strike is monitored for a period of days afterwards, in case of ignition. Willow River (British Columbia)
The Willow River is a tributary of the Fraser River in the north-central Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It enters the Fraser near the community of Willow River, just upstream from the city of Prince George, near the confluence of the Salmon River. Its source is in the Cariboo goldfields at Jack of Clubs Lake in the mining and arts community of Wells, British Columbia, near Barkerville. In 1974, the canyon of the Willow River, east of Prince George, was the scene of a tragic accident involving eight teenagers who died when their three canoes and kayak were broken in the raging waters and boulders of a narrow gorge. Cariboo Mountains
The Cariboo Mountains are the northernmost subrange of the Columbia Mountains, which run down into the Spokane area of the United States and include the Selkirks, Monashees and Purcells. The Cariboo Mountains are entirely within the province of British Columbia, Canada. The range is in area and about 245 km in length (southeast–northwest) and about 90 km at its widest (southwest–northeast).
