Mount Pleasant Independent School District is a public school district based in Mount Pleasant, Texas (USA). It serves the majority of Mount Pleasant, Winfield, and Millers Cove. In addition to students in the Mount Pleasant area, the district also serves high school students from Harts Bluff Independent School District. In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. On July 1, 2018 the Winfield Independent School District was consolidated into Mount Pleasant ISD. Mount Pleasant is the county seat of and largest city in Titus County, in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, Mount Pleasant's population was 16,047; it is situated in Northeast Texas. Winfield, Texas
Winfield is a small city in Titus County, Texas, United States. The population was 524 at the 2010 census. History Winfield's history includes (in addition to railroad operations) coal mining, brick and pottery manufacturing, and the famous Winfield Truck Stop. When the Texas and St. Louis Railway was being constructed through western Titus County in 1880, the citizens of Gray Rock, on the western boundary of the county, were asked to donate money and land to the company for routing the road through their community. When the merchants refused to cooperate, W. C. Barrett deeded a portion of his land a mile northeast of Gray Rock to railroad officials for a depot, and the road was built north of Gray Rock. At its earliest stages the community that began to emerge around the depot was called Barrett, but when the post office was opened there in 1887 with Patrick H. Harts Bluff Independent School District
Harts Bluff Independent School District (HBISD) is a public school district in Titus County, Texas (USA). Named after the Harts Bluff Farm to Market Road, the district is surrounded by the Mount Pleasant Independent School District. It serves a section of the Mount Pleasant city limits. HBISD's single campus, Harts Bluff Elementary, serves students in grades kindergarten through ninth. The district also maintains Harts Bluff Early College High School. History The Nevill's Chapel Common School District and the Oak Grove Common School District merged into Harts Bluff ISD in 1959 due to declining enrollment in Oak Grove.
