Mount King (Antarctica)
Mount King is a large, smooth-crested mountain in the eastern extremity of the Tula Mountains. Part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer (Australian Antarctic Gazetteer Id 1581) and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica, it is located in Enderby Land, East Antarctica, which is claimed by Australia as part of the Australian Antarctic Territory. The head of Beaver Glacier is located very close to the base of Mount King. Mount King was discovered and mapped in December, 1958, by an ANARE (Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions) dog-sledge party led by G.A. Knuckey. Named after Peter W. Mount King (British Columbia)
Mount King is a mountain summit located in Yoho National Park, in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, Canada. Its nearest higher peak is Mount Deville, to the northwest. Both are in the Van Horne Range, which has the oldest mountains in the Rockies, and as such they are highly eroded. Mount King is a landmark that can be seen from Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway in the Kicking Horse valley and Kicking Horse Pass areas. The mountain is situated 14 kilometres southwest of Emerald Lake, and 13 km southwest of Field, British Columbia. History The mountain was named by Otto Koltz in 1886 for William Frederick King (1854–1916), a Canadian surveyor, astronomer, and civil servant. The first ascent of Mount King was made in 1892 by James J. McArthur. The mountain's name was officially adopted in 1924 when approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada. King Peak (Yukon)
King Peak (sometimes called Mount King) is the fourth-highest mountain in Canada and the ninth-highest peak in North America. Situated just west of Mount Logan (highest in Canada), in Yukon, it is considered a satellite peak of the massive mountain. Climbing history The first ascent of King Peak was made in 1952 by some students from the University of Alaska. Russell Alston Paige, Keith Hart, Elton Thayer and Bill Atwood walked to the Ogilvie Glacier at the foot of Quartz Ridge where the majority of their supplies had been air dropped. They reached Camp 2 on the west ridge on June 3. After waiting two days for a storm to subside, Hart and Thayer set out for the summit while Atwood remained in camp due to a knee injury. Mount King Edward is a mountain located at the head of the Athabasca River valley in Jasper National Park, Canada. Mt. King Edward is situated on the Continental Divide with Mt. Mount King George is a prominent mountain summit located in Height of the Rockies Provincial Park, in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, Canada. Mount King William I (1,324 m) is a mountain adjacent to the Lyell Highway in Central Highlands, Tasmania. It is located 10 km southwest of Derwent Bridge. It is the northernmost of the King William Range. It has two namesakes in the King William Range - Mount King William II (1363) and Mount King William III.
