Saifur Rahman (Bangladeshi Politician)
Mohammad Saifur Rahman ( bn, মোহাম্মদ সাইফুর রহমান; October 6, 1932 – September 5, 2009) was a Bangladeshi economist and politician. He was a leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and the longest-serving Finance Minister of Bangladesh. He delivered 12 national budgets in three terms between 1980 and 1981, 1991–1996 and 2001–2006 over a ministerial life spanning from December 1976 until October 2006 in three different governments. He was Trade & Commerce Minister for the first three years, and thereafter Finance and Planning Minister for 12 years. In 1994, he was elected governor of the golden jubilee conference of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Madrid, Spain. In 2005, Rahman was awarded Ekushey Padak, the highest state honor of Bangladesh. Azizur Rahman (Bangladeshi Politician)
Azizur Rahman (26 September 1943 – 18 August 2020) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a 2-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Moulvibazar-3 constituency. He received the 2020 Independence Day Award by the government of Bangladesh. Career Rahman was elected to parliament from Moulvibazar-3 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in 1986. He was again elected from Moulvibazar-3 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in 1991. He was a parliamentary whip and a joint general secretary of the Awami League central Committee. At the time of his death Rahman was the Chairman of Moulvibazar Zila Parishad. Syed Mohsin Ali (12 December 1948 – 14 September 2015) was a Bangladeshi politician. He served as the Member of Parliament from Moulvibazar-3 and the Social Welfare Minister of the Government of Bangladesh. He was given Independence Day Award in 2017 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life Ali began his education in Kolkata. He passed Junior Cambridge and Senior Cambridge from St. Xavier's College. Then he studied in Bengali medium for some days in Bangladesh. M. Naser Rahman is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Moulvibazar-3 constituency. Career Rahman was elected member of parliament from Moulvibazar-3 constituency in the by-election held on 12 November 2001 as a BNP candidate. The seat fell vacant after his father, Saifur Rahman, had left one of the two constituencies he won in the 2001 Bangladeshi general election. Rahman is the chairman of ''Saifur Rahman Foundation''. Syeda Saira Mohsin (born 10 September 1960) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and former Member of Parliament in Bangladesh. Career Mohsin was nominated by Bangladesh Awami League to contest the by-election to Moulvibazar-3 constituency in Rajnagar Upazila and Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila of Moulvibazar District. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of her husband, Syed Mohsin Ali, on 14 September 2015. The nomination was approved by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Moulvibazar ( bn, মৌলভীবাজার) also spelled Maulvibazar, Moulavibazar, and Maulavibazar, (former South Sylhet) is the southeastern district of Sylhet Division in northeastern Bangladesh, named after the town of Moulvibazar. Moulvibazar Sadar ( bn, মৌলভীবাজার সদর) is an upazila of Moulvibazar District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh. History In ancient times, the region was known as Chandrapur or Chandrarajya. After the Conquest of Gour in 1303, many disciples of Shah Jalal such as Shah Mustafa migrated and settled in present-day Moulvibazar Sadar where they preached Islam to the local people. Rajnagar ( bn, রাজনগর) is an upazila of the Moulvibazar District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh. The district has roughly 29,300 houses and an area of approximately 340 km2. 2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair. 2008 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 29 December 2008. The two main parties in the election were the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Khaleda Zia, and the Bangladesh Awami League Party, led by Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Awami League Party formed a fourteen-party Grand Alliance including Ershad's Jatiya Party, while the BNP formed a four-party alliance which included the Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami. The election was originally scheduled for January 2007, but it was postponed by a military-controlled caretaker government for an extended period of time. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for the Awami League-led grand alliance, which won 263 seats out 300.
