Dr Mouhammad Alammar ( ar, محمد العمار) is a leading nonviolence advocate, physician, Muslim preacher, writer and Syrian opposition figure. Biography Born in the village of Namar in Daraa Governorate on February 2, 1962, Dr Mouhammad Alammar is a practicing physician with an MD degree from Tishreen University, Syria. He served as a volunteer in Namar's Omar Ibn Alkhatab mosque, giving sermons there for five years, 1993 to 1998. He also has lectured at cultural centers and in conferences inside Syria and abroad. Daraa Governorate
Daraa Governorate ( ar, مُحافظة درعا / ALA-LC: ') is one of the fourteen governorates (provinces) of Syria. It is situated in the south-west of the country and covers an area of 3,730 km2. It is bordered by Jordan to the south, Quneitra Governorate and Israel to the west, Rif Dimashq Governorate to the north and As-Suwayda Governorate to the east. The governorate has a population of 998,000 (2010 census office estimate). The capital is the city of Daraa. Several clashes have occurred within the governorate throughout the Syrian civil war. Tishreen University ( ar, جامعة تشرين, lit=October University), is a public university located in Latakia, Syria. It is the third-largest university in Syria. History The university was founded under the name of the ''University of Latakia'' on 20 May 1971.
