Moti Tikaram
Sir Moti Tikaram, KBE, CF (18 March 1925 – 17 May 2012) was a judge of the Supreme Court of Fiji, the first ombudsman of independent Fiji and a football administrator. He was the first local person to be appointed to the Supreme Court of Fiji. He served on numerous boards and committees and was the patron of several sporting organisations. Legal and judicial career He was appointed Fiji's first Ombudsman in 1972. At the time of his retirement in 1987, he was the longest serving national ombudsman in the world. He was a member of the International Commission of Jurists from 1984 to 1989. After Fiji became a republic in 1987, he was re-appointed as a judge and served for many years as the President of the Fiji Court of Appeal. He acted as Chief Justice of Fiji on many occasions. Lami, Fiji
Lami (), is an urban area in Rewa Province, Fiji, north-west of Suva. It was formally incorporated as a town in 1977, and had a population of 20,529 at the most recent census in 2007. The municipal boundaries enclose an area of 683 square kilometers. The original itaukei inhabitants of Suva were forced to move to Suvavou ("New Suva") by the British colonial powers in 1882 to make room for the new capital of Suva. Located on the outskirts of Lami is the Bilo Battery, which was a key defense built during World War II to help guard the main passage in the reef leading into Suva. Lami is governed by a town council of 12 members, elected for three-year terms, who elect a mayor from among themselves. The mayor's term is for one year, but may be extended indefinitely. Ramon Tikaram
Ramon Tikaram is a British stage and screen actor of Indo-Fijian and Southeast Asian descent. He is known for playing such roles as Ferdy in the BBC television series ''This Life'' and Qadim Shah in the BBC One soap opera '' EastEnders''. Early life and education Tikaram is the son of Pramod Tikaram, an Indo-Fijian officer of British Army, and Fatimah Rohani, a Sarawakian mother. His younger sister is singer-songwriter Tanita Tikaram. The family moved frequently during Tikaram's youth, because of his father's military service with the British army. He attended military school in Dover before studying English at Kent University, where he discovered acting. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service.
