Mossley Hill Railway Station
Mossley Hill railway station is in the suburbs of Liverpool in the north west of England. The station is operated by Northern Trains. History It and Allerton were the only stations opened on 15 February 1864 when the St Helens Railway's (taken over by the London & North Western Railway from 29 July 1864) extension from Speke to Edge Hill opened. The station was replaced from 13 July 1891, when the Edge Hill to Speke line was quadrupled. The station was renamed from ''Mossley Hill for Aigburth'' to ''Mossley Hill'' on 6 May 1974. North of the station, on the route towards Edge Hill are the sites – still identifiable where the line crosses roads – of the former Sefton Park and Wavertree stations. Facilities The ticket office is on a road bridge and (as is standard practice for Merseytravel-sponsored stations) is staffed throughout the hours of service all week, with additional ticket machines on the platforms. Mossley Hill
Mossley Hill is a suburb of Liverpool and a Liverpool City Council ward. Located to the south of the city, it is bordered by Aigburth, Allerton, Childwall, and Wavertree. At the 2001 Census, the population was 12,650, increasing to 13,816 at the 2011 Census. The Mossley Hill has a highest elevation of 63m, the location of which is the Mossley Hill Parish Church on the corner of Rose Lane and Mossley Hill North Road. West Midlands Trains (WMT) is a train operating company in the United Kingdom. Olive Mount Chord
The Olive Mount chord in Liverpool, England, is a 300-metre stretch of railway track between Olive Mount Junction, in Olive Mount cutting, and Edge Lane Junction that provides access to the Canada Dock Branch (more usually known today as the Bootle Branch). History The Olive Mount Chord was built as part of the L&NWR's Canada Dock Branch railway, which opened in 1866. It was designed to ease transition between the branch and the main L&NWR line into and out of the Liverpool area. The chord was taken out of use following a fire in the signal box at Edge Lane Junction on 21 January 1987 and subsequently lifted, because the declining amount of dock traffic meant the cost of repairing the box, or altering the signalling to allow remote operation from Edge Hill PSB, was not seen to be justified. Canada Dock Branch
The Canada Dock Branch is a 4-mile 59 chain (7.62 kilometre) long railway line in Liverpool, England. The line's route is from the large Edge Hill rail junction in the east of Liverpool to Seaforth Dock to the north. The line was originally built by the London and North Western Railway terminating at Canada Dock, with a later branch extension added to Alexandra Dock and links onto the MDHC railway lines. The line is not electrified. History The line opened in 1866 between Edge Hill and Canada Dock. Passenger trains ran on the line to Canada Dock from 1870. West Allerton railway station serves the suburb of Allerton, Liverpool in the north west of England.
