Moss Arbeiderblad
''Moss Arbeiderblad'' was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Moss in Østfold county. It was affiliated with the Social Democratic Labour Party of Norway. ''Moss Arbeiderblad'' was started on 13 November 1920 as ''Ekstrabladet''. In 1921, when the Social Democratic Labour Party broke away from the Norwegian Labour Party, the newspaper sided with the former party. The name was changed to ''Moss Arbeiderblad'' in July 1922. In 1927 the Social Democratic Labour Party reconciled with the Labour Party, and the two parties again became one. At the same time, ''Moss Arbeiderblad'' was absorbed into the local Labour Party newspaper ''Folkets Blad'', which was published under the new name '' Moss og Omegn Arbeiderblad''. Its editor-in-chief throughout its existence was politician Arne Magnussen Arne Magnussen. Moss, Norway
is a coastal town and a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Moss. The city of Moss was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt) and City in 1720. The rural municipality of Jeløy was merged with the city on 1 July 1943. The former municipality of Rygge was merged into it on January 1, 2020. Its administrative district covers areas east of the town, such as the island of Dillingøy in the lake Vansjø. Parts of the town are located on the peninsula of Jeløy. The city of Moss has 30,723 inhabitants (2012). Name The Old Norse form of the name was . Østfold
Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway. It borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat was Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. The Social Democratic Labour Party of Norway (in Norwegian ''Norges Socialdemokratiske Arbeiderparti'') was a Norwegian political party in the 1920s. Following the Labour Party's entry into the Comintern in 1919 its right wing left the party to form the Social Democratic Labour Party in 1921. At the party convention in 1923, however, the Labour Party withdrew from Comintern, and the Communist Party of Norway was formed by the minority, who continued its affiliation with Comintern and the Soviet Union until 1991. The Social Democratic Labour Party was absorbed into the reorganised Labour Party in 1927. The youth wing of the party was the Socialist Youth League of Norway. ''Norsk presses historie 1660–2010'' is a four-volume work about the press media history of Norway. It was published in April 2010 by Universitetsforlaget, and was the first book of its kind in Norway. Structure and production Hans Fredrik Dahl was the superior editor of all four volumes. The first volume, ''En samfunnsmakt blir til. 1660–1880'' was edited by Martin Eide. The second volume, ''Presse, parti og publikum. 1880–1945'' was edited by Rune Ottosen. The third volume, ''Imperiet vakler. 1945–2010'' was edited by Guri Hjeltnes. The fourth volume, ''Norske aviser fra A til Å'' was edited by Idar Flo. While the first three volumes are written in regular prose, the fourth volume is more of an encyclopedia with about 400 "newspaper biographies". Composed of 1925 pages across all volumes, the entire work cost and was finished after eleven years. ''Moss Dagblad'' is a local newspaper in Moss, Norway that was reestablished in 2014 as a zoned publication of the daily Dagsavisen. At one time it was second largest in the city behind '' Moss Avis'', it was published three days a week where the chief editor was Morten Øby. The paper was established in 1912 as ''Moss Socialdemokrat'', being affiliated with the Labour Party. It changed its name to ''Folkets Blad'' in 1923. In 1927 it absorbed the Social Democratic ''Moss Arbeiderblad'', and continued under the name ''Moss og Omegn Arbeiderblad''. In 1957 it absorbed the Ski-based Labour newspaper '' Follo'', and from 1960 it continued under the name ''Moss Dagblad''. It later became an independent paper. It changed to tabloid format in 1980 and launched a Sunday newspaper in 1998, but the Sunday edition lasted only for one year. In 2001 the number of issues per week was cut from six to three. Arne Magnussen
Arne Magnussen. Arne Magnussen (31 March 1884 – 3 September 1970) was a Norwegian trade unionist, newspaper editor and politician for the Labour and the Social Democratic Labour parties. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway from the urban constituency of '' Moss og Drøbak'' in 1919. In 1921, when the Social Democratic Labour Party split away from the Labour Party, he joined the Social Democrats and was re-elected in the newly created constituency Market towns of Østfold and Akershus. He was re-elected on one occasion in 1924, but not on the next occasion in 1927. In 1930, having rejoined the Labour Party, he was elected for the last time, and sat through the term which ended in 1933. Born in Moss as the son of a school teacher, he started his career as a mail and newspaper carrier.
