Mosier, Oregon
Mosier is a city along the Columbia River in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. The population was 433 at the 2010 census. History Mosier was first settled in 1854 and incorporated as a city in 1914. The building now known as the post office was at that time the bank, and the original safe is still intact on-site. Mosier School was built in 1920 and until 1963 was a 1st–12th grade 1A school. From 1964 to 2002 it functioned as part of the Chenowith School District as an elementary school that ranged from kindergarten to fifth grade. In January 2003, the Chenowith School District approved the charter application for Mosier Elementary to become a charter school known as Mosier Community School. On June 3, 2016, a 96-car oil train derailed near Mosier. 11 cars derailed and at least one caught on fire, only 20 feet away from the city's sewage treatment facility. Jefferson Mosier House
The Jefferson Mosier House is a historic house in Mosier, Oregon, United States. Jefferson N. Mosier (1860–1928) first platted the town in 1902 on what had been his father's donation land claim, and tirelessly promoted it for decades after. He built this prominent house in 1904, and remained in residence until his death. It is the only Queen Anne building in Mosier, and features many signature characteristics of the type.. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.. By 2006, it had been converted for use as a bed and breakfast inn.. The Mosier Mounds Complex (Smithsonian trinomial: 35WS274), also known locally as the Mosier Battlements, is an archaeological site near Mosier, Oregon, United States. This collection of stone walls, pits, and mounds amid a basalt talus slope is the largest and most complex of a number of similar Native American sites in the southern Columbia Plateau. The site predates the arrival of Europeans and probably the local ascendance of Chinookan peoples, but has resisted more precise dating or cultural affiliation..
