Morodok Techo National Sports Complex
The Morodok Techo National Sports Complex ( km, ពហុកីឡដ្ឋានជាតិមរតកតេជោ) is a sports complex in Phnom Penh, Cambodia which is set to host the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. History Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in August 2012 approved the creation of an inter-ministerial committee to manage the construction of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex in a lot in Phnom Penh. Parts of the Boeung Pong Peay lake were reclaimed for the construction of the facility. According to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, the sports complex would be the country's first "modern multipurpose and international standard sports facility". Costing around $200 million, the sports complex's construction which began in April 2013 was funded by the Chinese government. Morodok Techo National Stadium
The Morodok Techo National Stadium ( km, កីឡដ្ឋានជាតិមរតកតេជោ) is a football and athletics stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is the main venue of the larger Morodok Techo National Sports Complex. Construction The Morodok Techo National Sports Complex, which includes the main stadium, was constructed specifically for Cambodia's hosting of the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. Construction of the sports complex began in April 2013 while the construction of the main stadium began in August 2017. The groundbreaking ceremony for the stadium was held earlier on April 4, 2017. The Chinese government provided 1.1 billion Chinese yuan (about $160 million) aid for the construction of the stadium which was developed by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation. Phnom Penh (; km, ភ្នំពេញ, ) is the capital and most populous city of Cambodia. The Cambodia national football team represents Cambodia in association football and is administered by the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC). Operated under the name Khmer Republic from 1970 to 1975, it was founded in 1933 and joined FIFA's ranks in 1953. 2023 Southeast Asian Games
The 2023 Southeast Asian Games ( km, ការប្រកួតកីឡាប្រជាជាតិអាស៊ីអាគ្នេយ៍២០២៣), commonly known as the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, or the 32nd SEA Games, and commonly known as Cambodia 2023, will be the 32nd edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial sports multi-sport event which will be held from 5 to 17 May 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The announcement was made at the SEA Games Federation Council meeting at Singapore, in conjunction with the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, Thong Khon. The Philippines was originally slated to host the Games, but was pushed forward to 2019 after Brunei withdrew its original hosting rights. Hun Sen (; km, ហ៊ុន សែន, ; born 5 August 1952) is a Cambodian politician and former military commander who has served as the prime minister of Cambodia since 1985. He is the longest-serving head of government of Cambodia, and one of the longest-serving leaders in the world. He is also the president of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and a member of the National Assembly for Kandal.
