Morocco will compete at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15–23 August. A team of 21 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Fédération Royale Marocaine D’Athlétisme
The Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (''Fédération Royale Marocaine d’Athlétisme'', FRMA) is Morocco's governing body for the sport of athletics (sport), athletics. It was established in 1957 and has been affiliated to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) since 1958. It is also a member of the Confederation of African Athletics since 1973. Since December 2006, the president of the federation is Abdeslam Ahizoune beating former athlete and world champion Hicham El Guerrouj in the elections. Halima Hachlaf
Halima Hachlaf (born 6 September 1988) is a Moroccan runner who specializes in the 800 metres. She is the younger sister of Abdelkader Hachlaf, an international steeplechase athlete. She won silver medals in the 800 m at the Mediterranean Games and Jeux de la Francophonie in 2009. Her personal best for the distance is 1:58.27. Junior career Hachlaf was born in Khénifra, and began her international career at an early age, competing in the 800 metres at the 2003 World Youth Championships in Athletics when she was fourteen. Ahmed Badday
Ahmed Ibrahim Baday (born 15 June 1974) is a Moroccan long-distance runner who specialized in the 5000 metres and cross-country running but now competes in road running competitions. He is currently banned for doping. A main stay of the Moroccan team at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, he helped his nation to medals in the team race in 1999, 2003 and 2007. In track running, he was the 10,000 metres gold medallist at the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie and also won bronze at the 2001 Mediterranean Games. Abderrahim Goumri
Abderrahim Goumri ( ar, عبد الرحيم الغومري; 21 May 1976 – 19 January 2013 in Temara, Morocco) was a Moroccan long-distance runner. He had competed in cross country, track, road running and marathon races. He spent the early part of his career in Norway and established himself with performances at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he helped his nation to team bronze medals at the 2002 and 2003 editions. He reached the 5000 metres track finals at the 2003 World Championships and the 2004 Summer Olympics. In 2005 he ran a career best of 12:50.25 minutes for the distance to take eleventh place on the all-time lists. It formerly included additional species but following the publication of a molecular phylogenetic study in 2009 the genus was split into four separate genera. The 5000 metres or 5000-metre run is a common long-distance running event in track and field, approximately equivalent to or . It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over laps of a standard track. Btissam Lakhouad (born 7 December 1980) is a Moroccan middle-distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres. She represented her country at the Summer Olympics in 2008 and 2012. She was fourth at the World Championships in Athletics in 2011 and has won medals at the Mediterranean Games and the African Championships in Athletics.
