The Moroccan National Olympic Committee ( ar, اللجنة الأولمبية الوطنية المغربية, french: Comité National Olympique Marocain, es, Comité Olímpico Nacional Marroquí, abbreviated as CNOM) is a non-profit organization serving as the National Olympic Committee of Morocco. It was formed in 1959 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the same year. Rabat
Rabat (, also , ; ar, الرِّبَاط, er-Ribât; ber, ⵕⵕⴱⴰⵟ, ṛṛbaṭ) is the capital city of Morocco and the country's seventh largest city with an urban population of approximately 580,000 (2014) and a metropolitan population of over 1.2 million. It is also the capital city of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra administrative region. Rabat is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg, opposite Salé, the city's main commuter town. Rabat was founded in the 12th century by Almohads. The city steadily grew but went into an extended period of decline following the collapse of the Almohads. General Housni Benslimane ( ar, حسني بن سليمان ; born 14 December 1935, El Jadida) is a senior Moroccan Gendarmerie officer who has served since 1972 as the Commander-in-Chief of this unit. He also presides over the Moroccan Olympic Committee and was president of the Moroccan FA between 1994 and 2009. Morocco first participated at the Olympic Games in 1960, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except when they participated in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Abdeslam Ahizoune (born 20 April 1955 in Tiflet, Morocco) is the chairman of the Management Board of Maroc Telecom and the former chief executive officer, the main Moroccan telecommunications company.
