Moroak Airport
Moroak Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in Northern Territory, Australia. The property is situated approximately east of Mataranka, Northern Territory, Mataranka and north east of Larrimah, Northern Territory, Larrimah. The Roper River flows through the property and acts as the southern boundary of Moroak and the northern boundary of Elsey Station. Moroak is bounded to the north by Mountain Valley Station, to the west by Goondooloo and to the east by Flying Fox Station. The traditional owners of the area are the Mangarrayi language, Mangarrayi peoples. Some of the Mangarrayi work as rangers along the river. A pastoral lease, sometimes called a pastoral run, is an arrangement used in both Australia and New Zealand where government-owned Crown land is leased out to graziers for the purpose of livestock grazing on rangelands. Limbunya Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location The property is situated approximately west of the community of Daguragu and south of Darwin. The property shares a boundary with Waterloo Station to the north and Inverway, Riveren and Bunda Stations to the south. The Daguragu Aboriginal Land Trust bounds Limbunya to the east with the Malngin Aboriginal Land Trust to the west. Description Limbunya occupies an area of and typically supports a herd of 35,000 cattle. Cattle are raised for the live export trade and shipped out from Darwin to markets in Indonesia, Egypt and the Philippines. The Brahman is an American breed of zebuine-taurine hybrid beef cattle. It was bred in the United States from 1885 from cattle originating in India, imported at various times from the United Kingdom, from India and from Brazil. These were mainly Gir, Guzerá and Nelore stock, with some Indu-Brasil, Krishna Valley and Ongole. The Brahman has a high tolerance of heat, sunlight and humidity, and good resistance to parasites. It has been exported to many countries, particularly in the tropics; in Australia it is the most numerous breed of cattle. It has been used in the creation of numerous taurine-indicine hybrids, some of which – such as the Brangus and Brahmousin – are established as separate breeds. Mangarrayi Language
Mangarrayi (Manggarrai, Mungerry, Ngarrabadji) is an Australian language spoken in the Northern Territory. Its classification is uncertain. Margaret Sharpe originally sought to record the language but turned to the study of Alawa after the station owner where her informants lived denied her access, having tired of the presence of researchers on the property. Speakers The 2016 Australian Bureau of Statistics official census indicates that there are no speakers of Mangarrayi remaining, however elders Sheila Conway and Jessie Roberts are both speakers of Mangarrayi.
