Clandulla, New South Wales
Clandulla is a village in New South Wales, Australia, within the Mid-Western Regional Council, about 225 kilometres north-west of Sydney. At the 2016 census Clandulla and the surrounding rural district had a population of 197, living in 61 private dwellings. The township and district also included 22 unoccupied private dwellings. Clandulla is bounded to the west and north by the Clandulla State Forest (with an area of about 1,400 hectares). The village, which essentially grew around the railway station at the locality, has had several name changes during its history. From about 1884 the settlement was named Calwell (even though the railway station was named Ilford, after the older township in the district eight miles to the south-west on the Sydney Road). The Mornington railway line, in Melbourne, Australia, was a rural railway branching off from the Stony Point railway line at Baxter. The line had a life of 92 years, opening in 1889, and closing in 1981. History Opening A branch was opened of the Gippsland Railway from Caulfield to Mordialloc in 1881 and Frankston in 1882. This line was extended to Baxter in 1888 and branches were opened to Hastings and Mornington in 1889. The line from Baxter to Mornington was officially opened on 10 September 1889. When opened, the line had two stations: the terminus of Mornington and intermediate station Moorooduc. Between 1920 and 1930, Rail Motor Stopping Place (RMSP) 16 was opened at Nepean Highway (known as Point Nepean Road at the time) in Mornington, closing again by 1940. Mornington is a suburb of Wellington, New Zealand, on the southern hills behind Brooklyn. It is named after the Duke of Wellington's father, the Earl of Mornington. Mornington is a suburb of the city of Dunedin, in the South Island of New Zealand. It is situated on hilly slopes to the west of the city centre, the slopes forming part of a ridge which surrounds the heart of the city. According to the 2013 New Zealand census, Mornington has a population of 3,267, a decrease of 126 people since the 2006 census. There were 1,518 males and 1,749 females. The use of the name Mornington for the area was first recorded in 1862. There seems to be some conjecture about the origin of the name – some sources record it as being purely descriptive, with the suburb receiving the first rays of the sunrise. Mornington () is a coastal village on the estuary of the River Boyne in County Meath, Ireland approximately 5 km downriver from the centre of Drogheda. Mornington Station was a beef cattle station in the Kimberley region of north-west Western Australia. It was bought by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy in 2001 and became the Mornington Sanctuary nature reserve. History Mornington was originally run as a beef cattle station for 80 years and was named after Victoria's Mornington Peninsula by Bob Maxted. Mornington Sanctuary, formerly Mornington Station, is a nature reserve in the Kimberley region of north-west Western Australia. It contains the Mornington Wilderness Camp and is owned and managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC). It lies in the Pentecost subregion of the Central Kimberley Bioregion.
