Morningside Australian Football Club
The Morningside Australian Football Club, also known as the Morningside Panthers, is an Australian rules football club based at Jack Esplen Oval in the suburb of Hawthorne in Brisbane. The club consists of Masters, Amateurs, Women's, Junior and Senior football sections. Its senior team competed in the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) competition from 2011 to 2013 and now is a member club of the Queensland Australian Football League. Its junior sides compete in the AFL Brisbane Juniors (AFLBJ) competition. The club also caters for young girls and boys by running Auskick skills clinics, which are held at the beginning of the season and do not involve competitive games. Morningside Football Club has operated successfully as a football club in Brisbane for over 50 years and is one of the most widely recognised Queensland based AFL clubs within Australia. Queensland Australian Football League
The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. Previously known as the Queensland Football League (QFL), Queensland Australian National Football League (QANFL), Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) and AFL Queensland State League (AFLQSL), the QAFL is the premier semi-professional competition in Queensland. The Gabba
The Brisbane Cricket Ground, commonly known as the Gabba, is a major sports stadium in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia. Jordon Bourke
Jordon Bourke (born 11 November 1994) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). The son of former and ruckman Damian Bourke, Jordon is a tall strong-marking player who can play at either end of the ground. Early career Bourke grew up in Coorparoo, Queensland, and was scouted by Brisbane Lions scouts for his natural talent. Chosen in the Queensland side for the 2011 National Under 18s championship, Bourke led the team to the Division Two title. His efforts were recognized with the Championships' Division Two Most Valuable Player award. Jackson Allen
Jackson Allen (born 14 April 1993) is a former professional Australian rules football player at the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the club in the 2011 National Draft, with pick #91, as a Queensland zone selection. Allen made his debut in Round 20, 2012, against at Carrara Stadium. He played four games over two seasons before being delisted at the end of the 2014 season. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. The VFL, aiming to become a national competition, began expanding beyond Victoria to other Australian states in the 1980s, and changed its name to the AFL in 1990. The league currently consists of 18 teams spread over five of Australia's six states (Tasmania being the exception). Daryl Bourke
Daryl Bourke (born 7 April 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. A centreman, Bourke played nine games in each of his two seasons at Melbourne. He then joined the Brisbane Bears for their inaugural VFL season in 1987 but couldn't break into the team. Instead he became a leading player in the Queensland Australian Football League, with Morningside. John Blair (Australian Footballer)
John Blair (born 17 March 1955) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the South Melbourne Football Club, Fitzroy Football Club and St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He has since become a successful coach in Queensland and is currently senior coach of the Aspley Football Club. A utility, Blair spent a lot of his career as a centre-half back but was also used up forward. He had begun his career at Noble Park Football Club and it was from there was he was recruited to South Melbourne. He made his VFL debut in 1975, against Footscray at Waverley Park, but it was the only game he played that season. Over the next two years he put together 23 senior appearances, only to be traded to Fitzroy during the 1978 season. Merv Dihm
Mervyn "Merv" Dihm (born 16 September 1933) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). While serving at naval air station as a naval rating in 1953, Dihm was arrested and charged with assault. It was alleged that he assaulted a navy personnel's wife with a block of wood, after breaking into her room. He pleaded guilty and argued that he had been under the influence of benzedrine and couldn't remember the incident. The court found him guilty and he served a short jail sentence. Dihm played just eight games for St Kilda, all in the 1955 VFL season, but made a name for himself in Queensland football. Broadbeach Australian Football Club
Broadbeach Australian Football Club, also known as the ''Broadbeach Cats'', is an Australian rules football club representing the suburb of Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. The club competes in the Queensland Australian Football League after having previously competed in North East Australian Football League. Its home ground is Subaru Oval - Nee Merrimac Oval. Labrador Australian Football Club, also known as the Labrador Tigers, is a Gold Coast based sports club. Labrador's Australian rules football team currently competes in the Queensland Australian Football League. From 2011 to 2014 it was an inaugural member club of the NEAFL competition. Giffin Park
Giffin Park is a sports venue in Coorparoo, Queensland, Coorparoo, a suburb in Brisbane, Australia. It includes an Australian rules football ground. It was formerly used by the Brisbane Lions as their secondary training venue and is used during the summer due to clashes with the Australian Cricket season.
